Being white can be a problem sometimes trying to play ball. Especially if it's your first time going somewhere and don't really know anyone there. Sucks, but that's how it is.
I know but what can you do. It is some straight bull**** but I mean I understand it. Thankfully when I play at school there are 18 courts, so that is never a problem.

Yea he got screwed. We have one mini court so it makes it even tougher. There were probably 15 guys and we only play 4 on 4.

I don't know if I can say because I don't watch the NBA a ton and I saw you shoot probably 10 times.

Man the MLB has you all over the place!

It was at the newest Peak Fitness in Steele Creek. I'll let you know.

Unfortunately at this gym the court isn't full length or full width. That's why we only play 4 on 4. But hey it's better than nothing.

Another thing regarding the pick and roll:

If you can't defend it properly like learning when to switch and when not to, then you will get killed by it all game.
COmmunication can be a minor fix to this. Most folks don't know how to defend it cause they haven't payed organized ball. Some organized ball players still don't know how. It isn't as common sense as we want to make it.

doesnt usually come into play in pick up ball in my expereince

the consensus is to switch (at least at the places where I play pick up)

And when you got teammates who have good help defenders, it's makes your job a little bit easier.

This is definitely a great post and everybody is posting alot of real good tips in here.
Hedging is definitely the way to go about defending the P&R in pick up games. I always do it when playing pick up and its effective against almost everyone, you just have to make sure to talk to your teammate who's guarding the ball and let him know not to leave his man and fight through the pick and that you're just gonna hedge and recover.

Most guys coming off a pick w. the ball don't know how to handle hedges so unless you're playing with college guys or high bball IQ guys you should be all set.

I guess you can say that, worse comes to worse the guy coming off the pick can unagressively come off and it basically not plan on using it. That gets some movement going on the court, doesn't insult the teammate but also doesn't get the team into a sticky situation.

Make sure to wear ankle supports/braces unless you have some Kirk Hinrich ankles.

Almost came real close to ending up on IR earlier today.

If you have a bad day, take one off.

Sunday I was terrible. I shot about 2-12 from 3pt range and my team went 1-2. I was beat on defense and made a few bad passes.

I took Monday off so I could mentally recover.

Tonight (Tuesday) I probably had the best pick-up night of my life. My team won 7 or 8 games in a row and I honestly hit about 25 3pt shots. I probably put up 40-45. I played good defense and created some good looks for my teammates.

We only play to 12 by 1's & 2's and I probably averaged 7.5 pts/game by myself. There is a whole lot of catch & shoot going on and I'll even shoot with a guy in my face. I took 3 or 4 from around 25 feet and I hit every single one.

I then came home and collapsed on the floor due to exhaustion. 3 hours straight killed me. I actually shot better towards the end...I think I hit 7 or 8 in a row to end my night.

Gunner! That's five or six trey attempts a game!

                              Nice.

I'm best at catch and shoot from deep. I can't dribble for crap though. I also play good d.
