I had a that double-chocolate stout, and I didn't like it. Edmund Fitzgerald, on the other hand, is very tasty.

I love Denver... Russian River Temptation on draught (first time I've had a sour ale... very interesting), a Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye, and an Avery Dugana (also on draught). Nice night of great beers, plus a traditional French cassoulet. Beer + food > wine + food

What are some good beers similar to Hoegaarden? That's basically all I've been getting when I go out lately.

Weihenstephaner. That's the best wheat beer around, better than Hoegaarden and not owned by Anheuser-Busch.

You'd like Delerium Tremens too if you like Hoegaarden (I dont know anyone who doesn't enjoy that beer). And probably most of the microbrew wheats like Avery White Rascal, Ommegang Witte...

FT, try to find Franziskaner and Paulaner Hefeweizen.

Those two are my favorite wheat beers by far.

Allagash White is really good too.

Mo give it a shot bro. The ABV is concealed pretty good and has a good bite but is flavored wonderfully. This is ranked like 4th on Beeradvocate for the top beers in the world. I can see why, it is truly FANTASTIC!!

I'm a sucker for the limited release Sweetwater stuff.

So I bought a sixxer of this at the grocery store yesterday...

                        (not my image btw)

My first I had was cold. Big mistake. This beer needs to pulled out of the fridge about 5-6 minutes before you drink it to bring the temp up a little. The subtle spices really come through when the beer is closer to room temp. Overall, solid beer. Probably ranks about 4th in the Sweetwater line.

Then I saw this...and Terrapin specialty beers are outstanding. So I bought a sixxer of it as well..

Haven't had it yet. However, Terrapin's coffee oatmeal stout is the best out there. So I'm hoping this one delivers.

DAMN those look good. I found out...as far as craft beers go, DO NOT PUT THOSE BEERS IN A COOLER FULL OF ICE! Those beers are meant for 40° Some beers a little colder i.e. summer wheat beers. That Is All.

I know what you mean, some beers are meant to be ice cold. But some aren't. I've found the craft beers with fruit extracts can be ice cold, but beers with spices shouldn't be.

BTW, the Terrapin is amazing. The pumpkin spices are just powerful enough. Excellent beer.

I do the white wine thing and let most of my beers warm up for 15-20 minutes at room temperature before cracking into them. Something like an Imperial Stout I let go until it's ~50 degrees because it really brings out the flavors and changes the way it drinks for the better. Lots of times they have recommended serving temps on the bottle, so I make a habit of turning them around and reading it just in case it's something odd.
