Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I was there last weekend. Good stuff. Went home with a couple bottles of the Biere de Mars. They have a "Obamagang" porter on draft at the brewery that was excellent if you like porters. They don't bottle it and sell it for obvious reasons.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I'm still trying to figure out how Coors Light could end up in a great tasting beer thread. Blah! Anyways, I picked up a sixer of St. Arnold's Summer Pils (absolutely amazing) as well as a sixer of the the Abita Martigra Ale which I thought was long gone until next year. Talk about finding a gem at your local bbq and beer store.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I find Coors light a step towards water after drinking Old Milwuakee. Out of a bottle Ol' Mil is a good beer. I'd stay away out of a can.
By the way, why are you paying $50 for a case of Old Mil? I can get 4 cases for that. When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Back to some better beers lol.
I had 3 of these last night. I drank a sixer of these last weekend also. Turbo Dog has been one of my favorite beer for sitting down and killing 12 or so. It is cheaper than Chimay and has great flavors of Chocolate and caramels.
Turbodog has been replaced on my list of go to beers. Sam Adams Cream Stout..........Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I don't know what it is about this beer that I love so much. It is very similar to Turbo Dog, dark rich flavors, alot of chocolate and caramels. Pours a nice thick off white head, which lasts the whole glass. The lacing is amazing, Go to wash dishes couple days later and the lacing will be dried on.
My New Favorite beer.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Phobia, I agree, the Sam Adams Cream Stout is an excellent beer.
I had two new brews last night:
Sam Adams Summer Ale (on tap) - Not much to talk about, I found it pretty boring. Cream Stout remains the only Sam Adams beer I really like.
Red Stripe (bottle) - It's beer! Hooray beer!
I found the Red Stripe to be pretty good. The bottle started off better than it finished. I'd have it again.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Red Stripe is one of my go-to beers... I often go and pick up a single big bottle for dinner. That or a big-*** can of Sapporo.. both are nice with spicy things, which is what I end up eating most of the time. They're usually enough for a full pour and a half, which is about what I drink with a normal meal. $3 well-spent.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Stumble, dude I went shoot some pool about 2 weeks ago and while i was there I was drinking Pineapple juice and gin, after a few of those stiff boys I switch to red stripe. I am not a big fan of red stripe, but they were going down like water that night..............must of been why I woke up not remembering a whole lot ............or.........it could of been the Gin lol.
Joking aside, I find myself falling more and more away from fruit style beers. I like Blue moon but some of the other stuff I have drank lately I am just not feeling.
I had this other day.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I've been liking hoppy beers lately... and pilsners. Kinda weird since I would normally stick to smooth wheat beers through most of the summer and go back to porters, etc. in the Fall. I'm normally a dark beer kind of guy when it comes to craft beers and really sitting and sipping a good beer, but I think I might have to try some of these crazy IPAs people here are raving about since my palette is enjoying the hops lately.
Hop heads, which nice IPAs (or APAs) don't have that super skunky twang? I liked the New Belgium Mighty Arrow pale ale a lot because it lacked that skunky/bitter aftertaste... give me some suggestions.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Been out of the great beer loop for most of the summer. It's too hot for me to deal with complex flavors / heavy stuff. Plus summer beers produced by the craft guys are pretty tame / lame compared to their other stuff. Germans do it right though (check out anything by Ayinger).
Been rockin lots of PBR lately and drawing plenty of blank stares from my friends and family wondering why, after years of preaching the good beer gospel, I'm toting around a 12-er of PBR. Goes down easy that's why. Oberon mini kegs are fun to pick up from time to time.
I still have been drinking plenty of pales and IPAs though as they go so well with "oregano" , but nothing really new to talk about. Hop Stoopid never lets me down.
Can't wait for fall and all of the glorious heavy, malty, goodness it brings.Comment

Ballast Point Sculpin IPA - California
Lakefront Brewery IPA - Wisconsin
Hmmm, that's all I can think of off the top of my head (sad). English IPAs and pales are usually far less bitter than their American counterparts. Careful, once you get a taste for the hops, there's no turning back.Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Yeah, I'm becoming a big fan of the aromas that hop-heavy beers have... and you're right about them going well with "oregano". I'll go to the massive liquor store and see if I can find those to try. Thanks for the suggestion.
I might warm up to the skunky craziness that some of them have, but I'm easing my way into the hops I guess. It just always turned me off -- even Sierra Nevada Pale Ale used to make me nearly gag with the skunk factor, but I think I would like it a bit more now. Helps to have food nearby to pair with it... in general, I'd rather drink a dark malty beer if I'm just sitting there drinking a beer.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment
