Boy I love me some Delirium but I have never had the X-mas version aka "Noel". Looks mighty tasty.

If you guys noticed I been MIA from this thread for a long time now. I have pretty much switched back to my whiskey routine the last year or so. Makers , Buffalo Trace, Crown, Knob, etc all on the rocks. Straight woody whiskey over couple ice cubes.

I been laying off the beer because I was putting on some "gut weight" lol. Whiskey takes less to get that feeling

So how do you properly pour a beer into a glass? I was reading reviews for a Hefeweizen and everyone said there was 1 or 2 digits of head. That is the foam right? I guess I am just used to pouring keg beer and trying to get as little foam as possible.

Going to try to have some winter seasonals tonight. Something other than the Sam Adams and Blue Moon seasonal that is.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread

My uncle has hosted a beer tasting the past couple of years around the Holidays, but this year he's taking it up a notch.

Everyone brings 3 beers of their choice concealed in a paper bag. Then we are doing a blind test and rating each beer in 4 categories (I forget what all of them are at the moment). The winner takes home the new traveling trophy called The Golden Growler that he apparently made himself. I can't wait to see this thing, lol.

                        My 3 entries:

                        Surly Abrasive (Minneapolis)
Unibroue La Fin du Monde (Montreal)
                        Atwater Vanilla Java Porter (Detroit)

                        I can't wait - the fun begins at 6:30!

Holy crap is Surly Abrasive good! You'll win going away if your family are even remotely hop heads. I have some in fridge that I'm going to finish this weekend before I have the guys over for a boardgame night.

That sounds like such way cool fun!

Apparently this Surly stuff is pretty good eh? I've asked around at my local "go to" beer bars and nobody can get me any. I guess they don't distribute around here, if even to the west coast at all.

Edit: I really need some more west coast influence in this thread. Looks like most everybody is east of the Mississippi

Yeah...I'm East, but my brew of choice for this Christmas is from Cali. Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout...can't WAIT to dig in on this one!

Yeah, Omar is a real stickler with where he distributes his stuff. As far as I know it's only Minnesota, and what's crazy is that there are regions in the Twin Cities (inside the 694 loop) where he won't sell either. It's a puzzle wrapped in an enigma to be sure.

I know what you mean about waiting for some of the quality brews, though. When we lived in Springfield, IL New Belgium (of Fat Tire fame) hadn't gone east of the Mississippi, so I stocked up when we crossed in to St. Louis on a trip.
