Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread

Was looking for some new beers to try, then I stumble upon this thread. 130 pages of beer greatness. Thank you to everyone that's posted in this thread. It really is amazing how many different breweries there are.

I don't care much for the big name beers (AB, miller, coors etc) although I do like corona. Schlafly has a number of good tasting beers. I've never had fat tire, so I might try that out tonight. I've heard mixed reviews of Shock Top, but i've heard more negative than positive.

I want to go on a brewery tour soon. Looks like so much fun, plus beer.

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread

Less than six months away before I can start to truly join in the discussion.

I discovered this summer that there is an award winning micro brewer/pub in my hometown. They have already won a couple of awards although they were founded in 2010. I don't know if bronze at the Great American Beer Festival or the World Beer Cup really means anything, but that's what they have won in the past two years. Anyway, I plan on being there the second weekend of February and not in some "tini" club or crappy bar getting drunk.

      Hooray for common sense!

Gonna be heading up to the Boston area for two months of training for my new job in a week. I plan to tour the Sam Adams brewery while I'm there.

I see your pumpkin ale and raise you a Watermelon Wheat. I've had many a fruit infused beer before but this was a first for watermelon. I couldn't smell it at all but you can taste it in the middle. Made for a very crisp, light, and refreshing beer. Much welcomed in the middle of this heat wave hitting Northern CA.

Are you guys noticing the increase of craft brews in cans that I'm seeing? It's kinda weird. I've been brainwashed to think that only weak american swill (with a few exceptions like Guinness) comes in a can but I've tried a few crafts in cans now and I think some of them actually taste better then bottled counterpart, much closer to what it tastes like from the draft.

Canned craft beer can often be better than bottled craft beer. Seen an uptick in this too. I think breweries are noticing this.

Allowing no light > allowing any light to reach the beer. Better seal too. It's a growing trend among microbreweries that I do not mind at all.

On the beer front, I've decided to go with one of my favorite wheat beers before digging into fall territory. Sierra Nevada Kellerweis.

Now that these fall beers are hitting the shelves, i'm starting to drink beer more steadily again. During the summer, I have a beer or two here and there, but something about the cool weather coming in just makes me crave a brew.

That, and i'm a bigger fan of the heavier beers, which are more appealing in the winter time than summer. Nothing like a chocolate stout to warm you up when it's freezing outside.

This is my latest beer venture. I really liked it. This beer has a 9.00% ABV and was Lazy Magnolia's first release after the alcohol laws in Mississippi changed. A very strong hoppy flavor that goes down very smooth. Definitely worth a taste.
