Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread

Took a trip over to the Cape May Brewing Co. in NJ this weekend. Really small local brewery, so unless you are close to that area you've probably never heard of anything by them, I know I didn't. They had a great holiday ale called Mop Man's Mop Water. Definitely one of the better spiced ales that I've had. Bought a growler of it before I left.

They also had an IPA there that won some awards at some contest in Atlantic City, but I wasn't blown away by it.

Been noticing a lot of breweries have been serving there own root beer on tap lately too. Dogfish's was great when I had it a few months ago.

Tallgrass Brewing Company makes a very good IPA called 8 Bit. It's very hoppy and has a great can design. Looks like Pac-Man hence the 8 Bit name.

They also have another IPA that is less hoppy called Ethos. I've heard their vanilla cream stout called Buffalo Sweat is very good but I have not tried it yet.

I didn't think it was possible for me to fall even more in love with Schlafly.....but this week I picked up a 6 pack of their special release Tasmanian IPA- they use Australian hops (Galaxy hops) that give it a citrus profile. Most of the time I try to plan my beer purchases, but this was an unresearched decision- and a quite tasty one at that.

Great seasonal IPA- pick it up if you see it.

What will you guys be drinking for Thanksgiving? I'm thinking of getting a couple of really nice beers for dinner/main event purposes. Maybe try SN Tumbler (for the first time) before dinner? I dunno.

I'm going to bring a couple large bottles of the Southern Tier Pumking Ale for sure. Then I'll pick up a couple other beers that catch my eye while I'm there. I'll also pick up a bottle of wine. Some kind of middle-of-the-road red wine.

I managed to snag the last bottle of Southern Tier Warlock out of the grocery store by my job. Will crack it open come Thursday.

Vermont has some of the finest stuff in the nation. Switchback and Magic Hat are phenomenal.

Upstate NY also has some good stuff. Lake Placid and Saranac are two other phenomenal breweries as well.

Was in Bruges, Belgium for a few days and everything I had on tap was delicious (and potent... 10% or higher).

I'm sure every state has a craft beer crowd who seems kind of pompous when talking about other types of beer other than "their" beer, I'd say Surly people (aka, in my group of friends, The Surly Snobs) is Minnesota's version of that. But damn, they do make some good beer.

It's gonna be cold as hell for the next few days, and I have a long weekend. Gonna pick up some Surly Furious, stoke up a weekend long fire, and chillax tonight

What's the consensus on Redd's the apple beer?

One of the members in my BNI group is the owner/operator of a brewery. Well, they're brewing, but they're trying to close on a business location in order to start selling. So far its been very beneficial haha. Hopefully they become clients of mine.

Anyway, they had a craft tasting party last week. There was a barley-wine that was incredible. Anybody know a good brand for this?

I also tried a "robust" Chocolate ale that I friggin' loved.
