Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
Only three areas with double zooms (so many breweries you have to zoom-in on a zoom-in): Denver, San Diego, and Portland. That seems about right, but I still think Asheville, NC is more impressive....I believe I have heard that it has the highest # of breweries per capita in the US. And the lowest looks to be Miami, with just a handful."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

That map is really cool, and if I had a home with a bar of my own, I'd definitely drop the $90 to put it on one of the walls.
The best part about the map is that it actually misses some breweries/bars that brew their own beer. I count 2 just in my small city that aren't on it. So even though there are plenty on that map to find, there are even more if you dig deeper. Cheers to that!Comment

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I guess it's the Portland metro area that is the biggest concentration per capita.
I looked it up to. Bend OR has been he highest per capita. 17 breweries, 80k people.

The tap house is pretty interesting. It's just a brewery in a warehouse with a bar. No frills at all. There's not even a sign outside. You just gotta know it's there. The entertainment is sitting there and watching them brew and getting to ask questions. They brew the beer there and then ship it to their main brewery 30 miles away.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

- Not a fan of the Chimay grande reserve, however I wanted to try the Triple Cinq Cents so I just bought the set. It was okay but was not Duvel. I'll try the red tomorrow during the Super Bowl.
- Duvel is God's sweat, and we are all lucky that he shares it with us.
- I was pleased with the Hitachino Nest White Ale, very pleased actually.Comment

I was taking the recycling out today and noticed the cans had messages on the bottom. Gubna said "May blow socks off". Dales said "corn cob doorknob".
But the Deviant made me lol;

Re: Another Great Tasting Beer Thread
I went to a BNI dinner-party last Friday night. The brewing company owners hosted at their house (who I am actually picking up as an accounting client - awesome). On tap was their Oktoberfest (IBU 27, AC 5.8%) and Doppelbock (IBU 29; AC 7.9%). They also had about 4-5 other beers on hand for taste testing and consuming. Of those two I preferred the Doppelbock. It had a nice smooth taste and the flavor was a bit espresso-y (caramel and chocolate). From the others I really liked their Black Lager (IBU 28, AC 5.2%). It reminded me of their Chocolate Stout except it was not nearly as heavy, but still had a similar roasted chocolate/caramel taste.
