Re: Your best ever moment as a sports fan?
Having been a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt, and suffering with him during his heartbreaks at Daytona, to see him finally win the 500 in 98 was euphoric. I actually had tears in my eyes, especially during the pit road celebration. To see every team come out and congratulate him...... Just wow.Last edited by Segagendude; 06-08-2013, 07:16 PM.Comment

July 4th of last year is also up there for me.
The day the Wild signed Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.
A Minnesota franchise signing two of the biggest free agents available on the market, and they are both high end players. I couldn't believe it.
Just the build up for the months leading up to that day was so intense. Everyone kept speculating: Well, Zach is from Minnesota and Ryan is from Wisconsin, maybe they will want to come home to play! But then it was always, "Nah, who are we kidding, we're Minnesota.... They'll end up in Pittsburgh/Detroit/etc."
I was up at the cabin, monitoring my phone like a hawk. When the hundreds of "WE GOT 'EM!" tweets started rolling in I was so pumped!University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: Your best ever moment as a sports fan?
If the Spurs manage to win the NBA Title this year, that might top them all, though. It just can't get any sweeter to win one final title before the Big Three age out and the Spurs (probably) sink into mediocrity for awhile. Just before the [title] door closes, they eek out another title six years after their last!Comment

Re: Your best ever moment as a sports fan?
The entire playoff run of the Baltimore Ravens this past season. I'll have to say Jacoby Jones making that catch in the divisional round @ Denver, because without that, the Ravens wouldn't have made the Superbowl.Ravens: In Ozzie We Trust

Re: Your best ever moment as a sports fan?
Raptors:
VC 2000 Dunk Contest
Raptors 07-08 playoffs("Lets go Raptors...VC Sucks" chants were awesome. As were the "HOOOWWWWWARD" chants against Magic)
Ross winning 2013 Dunk Contest(not so much for dunks themselves, though bringing back VC jersey was awesome, but fact that a Raptors player won 'main event' of Saturday night events)
Leafs:
02 and 04 playoff runs
2013 playoffs(until final 10 mins of game 7)
Numerous Sundin moments(500th goal,OT winners,Banner raised at ACC)
Jays:
Delgados 4HR game
Bautista being HR leader and breaking Jays all time record
2013 OFFSEASON(season itself has been exact opposite of what Jays fans wanted, but everything in offseason was crazy)
Other stuff:
Canada-USA 2010 Olympics Gold Medal game(probably THE best hockey game I've seen)
Argos 2004 and 2012 Grey Cup wins(I could hear the parade the next day from my classroom lol)
2010 World Cup(not so much for the games themselves, but getting to watch the world cup at school during classes, and even using the schools auditorium projection screen to watch the game with a few of my friends.)
The funniest part of the world cup stuff was that the principal came in and saw the game and instead of us getting in trouble(since 1.We weren't supposed to be there, and 2.We weren't supposed to be "tampering" with school equipment since the projector was for assemblies only and NOT to watch TV on), they just came in and started watching it too lol. We ended up doing that MULTIPLE times during the world cup). We even watched till the game was done, ironic that we WILLINGLY stayed after school on a friday, and basically hung out with the principal lol(they were cool person, they even had NHL game on the libraries TV one day and let ppl watch)Last edited by Majingir; 06-09-2013, 11:47 PM.Comment

Re: Your best ever moment as a sports fan?
Two dunk contests, a round 1 playoff exit that was more like a collapse, a regular season 4 home run game, a home run title, an offseason, and a World Cup that was only about the opportunity to watch it at school. Those are apparently your best moments in sports history for your teams.

1 dunk contest considered one of greatest dunk contest performances in NBA history(by a guy from my fave team)
Another dunk contest which was won by a guy from my fave team(on national stage, something Raptors never get to be on since they're Canadian team and USA TV ratings would suck if Raptors are ever on TNT or something since half the fans watching don't count towards the ratings)
A 4 home run performance(something which at the time, was done only 5 times in the past 40 years in MLB) by my fave Jays batter ever.
A LONG awaited playoff berth by a team which went through the worst drought in their 90+ year history(not to mention the fact that it was parties around the city for the games, and it was just first round. Had Leafs been in the finals, we might see one of the biggest/best playoff atmospheres in sports history)
A home run title by a guy who broke a franchise record(how is a franchise record breaking season not a good thing?)
An offseason which (at the time) turned my fave MLB team from a barely average team, into world series contender(now they're still the same barely average team, which is why this is partially considered one of my worst moments too,as stated in the other thread lol)
And a world cup which provided me with moments I never thought would happen at school. It felt like school revolved around the world cup at times lol, which was real cool and a nice/fresh change from the stuff at school the previous 9 months. This was for a sport I don't even watch minus the BIG events(world cup, olympics and so on), so if a sport like this could provide such a huge moment like that, you know it had to be special. And the fact that I got to watch a sports game on what was basically like my own personal 200 inch TV screen was real awesome too.Last edited by Majingir; 06-10-2013, 11:49 PM.Comment
