But one time I was walking him and he used to run real fast up and down and sometimes when he ran back he would jump sideways and I'd bend down to catch him. My neighbor was walked him with me one time and she did the motion by accident for him to run and jump sideways, mind you I was about 200lbs give or take and she was about 5 foot nothing maybe 90lbs. Shadow took her legs right from under her I'm like "OH BLEEP, Shadow done killed the lady" She was a fiesty lady so she was ok but if you saw it go down you'd be like "That lady's finished".

This one nut in my building had a black lab that was just as much as a nut as she was. And she would have the dog extended in front of her and reports have it that the dog did bite a few other dogs and people but she didn't learn her lesson. Well I was dating this other girl who had a kid and I'd take the kid places and take him when I was walking Shadow. Now I told him to not run out the elevator in front of me and he started to when the door opens and all you see is the head of the black lab lunge at the kid. I swear before anyone could react. And I mean it was LIGHTING quick, Shadow had the lab's whole face in his mouth. Put your leash around a lamp post outside and that's exactly how it felt on the end of the leash. It took ALOT for me to get him off this dog's head. Suffice it to say we never had a problem with that lady and her dog after that. lol

It's funny, I have a scratch from way back over my eye on my forehead from a fight and, even though you couldn't see it with all the fur, Shadow had the same scratch in the same location. LOL.

Here's some quotes from that thread I posted earlier when he first passed away:

One time I had woke up in the morning only to realize I was PARALYZED from my legs down. I couldn't move my legs at all. You know those few moments when you just wake up and really get the cobwebs out your head. I was freaking out when I finally sat up I look down and that damn Shadow is laying across my legs. Man I was like "You CRAZY AZZ DOG! YOU TRYING TO KILL ME!?!?!" I damn near had a heartattack.

When I first got him like the first week me and my girl (ex now) were in an "amorous" act he thought she was attacking me. Shadow jumps up on the bed , "GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!" I'm like "Dog if you don't get off this bed man....!!!!" So he learned that the good stuff wasn't bad. LOL

You're probably wondering why his name is Shadow. Well I originally wanted a Husky but the pet store owner said they run away. Then I wanted a German Shepard but then she said they usually have hip problems so eventually I saw this little gangly looking dog sitting there but real friendly coming up to me. So I asked her what about this dog? She said he'd be a great purchase so thus Shadow. He was a pretty big size puppy but the lady said that I should carry him home in my arms. I'm like WTF! this guy got 4 legs and I got 2 and I'm carrying HIM! It's been a great relationship ever since. That part really got me though. I could see if I was little kid or something but I'm grown azzz man carrying a dog home. LOL

Its fine. It still hurts though. Probably because it is only 2 days since she passed.

You think she is in heaven? Me too, and thats what I have thought for about the past 48 hours. She had been sick for a while and I know she is happier now. You think I should keep her waiting?

                  Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

How ya doing, bud? I really understand your pain because my cat is basically my best friend and when I lose him some day, I will be devastated. Hang in there, because it can only get better from here. Here is a video that will hopefully cheer you up. It always gets me when I'm down.

Alex, I am so sorry to hear this. As a fellow animal lover I know exactly what you are going through. When I was 15 we had a black lab who was hit by a car and killed when he was less than 2 years old. I saw it happen and there was nothing I could do to stop it. It was a terrible time for me.

All I can say is try to think of only the good times you had with her. She is at piece now. She knew how strong your love for her was I am sure of it. And I have no doubt you will someday see her again my friend.

                            I'm truly sorry.

Its so funny pjv, I was reading your thread about your dogs test results coming back and how you were really nervous a couple days before my dog passed. I had a bad feeling after reading your thread. I hope your companion is doing well.

It really is an awesome poem. It made me feel a little better when I first read it. I have read practically everything you can read after losing a pet.

Thanks for your well wishes Dave. In the book Chiken Soup a little boy lost his dog and he said that his pain was the cost of his love towards his dog. Bless you.
