I think people notice posts that truly catch their eye. I agree with the overall message of USF11 but I think his wording caused others to get agitated.

I can honestly say I've wished evil on people. I try to not do it but it happens. I'm not perfect, I'm 99.9%.

Oh wait BTW I meant in general, no about your true friends. Sure I have "friends" out there who I would occasionally wish evil on. Not like "I want you to get hurt" evil. More like "I hope you mess up on this drill" or "I hope you fail this test" kind of evil.

I would never wish evil on my close friends.

Am I wrong to wish the squirrel had the capacity to drive a car to remove this women from the face of the earth?
I think there is miscommunication in this thread.

USF would you ever wish any harm on your close friends?

*Still don't agree with some things you said, especially about authority figures. You did lump many people together in this thread after further review.*

No I would never wish harm on anyone. I know that in the end people get what they deserve. That aspect of my personally has changed. Like I said earlier having thoughts of envy and jealous from time to time is normal.

About me making generalizations and lumping people together, its more of my satarical view of the world. By no means is it 100% absolute fact.

But see this is what the thread has been about...the "Is this evil" question is in reference to being tired of hearing about someones success for X reason and wishing that it would all blow up in their face because you're either tired of hearing about it in general or are unhappy yourself.

No one has said that being jealous or having envy is necessarily wrong, it's that coupled w/ the spite you have for someone for them to fail, that me and others hold issue w/ and think is absolutely wrong.

The example my wife gave perfectly fits what I'm saying...

I'll state it again as she so stated..."I might be jealous because someone else has nicer hair than me, and that's ok BUT to be jealous of that person's hair and then wish it would all fall out is evil". As I stated the latter is what Odogg represented in his original post.

OK...this should be locked. five pages since ODogg last responded and it's now a tit for tat that's off topic. He probably got the justified response he was looking for and has moved on.

Thats exactly it. This thread was about wishing evil on your friends. Or even wishing evil on anybody for that matter.

There is nothing wrong with seeing your buddy with a nice new house or new car, and thinking, man, I wish I had that. Thats human nature.

But the issue I had was that USF said it was human nature to be envious to the point that we wished their nice things would be destroyed and EVERYONE feels this way. Thats where I had issue. I don't wish evil things upon my friends.

I guess its like golf. When I play golf with my buddies even when there is money on the line, I don't get upset when they hit a good shot. I've just got to try to hit a better shot. If they triple bogey the hole and I double bogey the hole and win the money, I'm not happy about it, I'm ticked because my score was terrible. I'm playing against the course, not against my friends. If I do well on the course, the money will come. And I'd rather do well and lose, then do terrible and win.

That's exactly what bothered me about what USF was spewing, and telling O-Dogg it's perfectly normal to wish horrible things upon friends. It's not, and if you are doing this than why are you friends? How can you even consider this person a friend?

Wishing that on someone defeats the whole idea/concept of a friend. Some people may need to seek-out a definition of friend.

Friends are not people who you wish fail in life, and wishing anyone fails in anything is wrong but I digress. We all have our enemies, and whoever they are can push us to the point that we harbor those feelings. Regardless, wishing failure upon a friend is wrong every which way.

Right. And flip it around. How would you feel if your "friends" were wishing you failed at everything you did. I'm glad I don't have friends like that, I weeded out those fools long ago. Wouldn't you just be in a constant state of paranoia if everyone you knew was like that?
