I need to try out Jack3d. Right now all I use is the p90x recovery drink.

      Jack3d is crazy.

Pump: 9 - Great pump and gives great fullness.

Energy 10 - You can go and go and go on this stuff.

Focus 7 - I guess this depends on your mood and the person. I noticed a such down sense I guess you can say. Not wanting to talk to people and just wanting to lift. Good and bad in the same

Strength 9 - Just throwing up the weight easier than ever before. Plus being able to get that soreness which is hard to fine after working out for a long period of time.

Taste 9 - I have the Lemon Lime and taste great to me. I water it down a little more with 8 oz of water and taste like watered down Powerade.

Overall 8.5 - Only draw back is the come down. It gives a weird sense of "off". Reminds me of coming down off adderall.

Excellent pre-workout if they could get away from the caffeine. Everything else is amazing

        Re: P90X

I've read this entire thread, and I haven't gotten my p90x kit yet, but I'm kinda wondering what I will need as far as recovery drinks, whey and anything else. I'm looking to lose a little weight and get a lot more cut. I've not lifted weights or really worked out for about 3 years. I'm not really fat, but I'd like to lose about 10 or even 15 lbs. I'm a short guy with a broad shoulders and chest. My core is really what I want to strengthen as well as increase my flexibility with the yoga, stretching, etc. as I'm thinking it will really help my golf game.

Any suggestions on what supplemental things I'd need would be a huge help.

Someone like AA would be a good guy to talk to about this. I personally would stick with a pre-workout drink of either Jack3d or No Xplode(<- Not this one if it was my choice).

As far as leaning down. Main thing will just be eating right. Whole wheat breads, Brown rice, Cranberry juice, no cokes, veggies, etc.

Low fat, enough calories I would say around 1,600 to 2,400 depending on your height and weight. A whey protein to make sure you are getting enough protein to build lean muscle. Drink a ton of water.

So in your case, a pre-work out drink. Then a whey protein drink for after workouts(Protein is protein to me, so no certain brand for me. Just make sure all the amino acids start with L-, anything with a D- your body just basically spits right back out). I would stay away from to much creatine, or weight gainers, if you are looking to just shed weight.

Oh and maybe a green tea supplement to speed up your metabolism.

I sort of want to do P90x...i hear great stuff about it. But I already run 3 miles a day which gives me some pain as it is. I'd love to bulk up though. I guess I could do it this summer instead of running.

                Re: P90X

I did this last year, but got really sick 30 days in. I weighed in at 198lbs at the pain doctor the other day, which is the heaviest I have ever weighed. I'm roughly 6'1", so I'm about 15 to 20lbs overweight, probably more since my muscle / fat ratio is out of whack. I just took my before picks, and I'll be starting P90X again on Monday.

I've cut my pain medicine in half yesterday and plan on getting it lower before I start as it affects my metabolism (was taking 3 to 4 10/325 Hydrocodone a day, and 6+ Tramodol for back/nerve pain). My goal is to get by with 1 to 1.5 Hydrocodone and 1 to 3 (max) Tramadol per day.

I've cut my cokes down by half as well, and plan on cutting them out entirely on Monday (hopefully). I'm a coke-aholic, and usually drink between 6 and 10 diet cokes a day (Diet Coke with Splenda). I've read cola makes it hard to put on and retain muscle, not to mention what it's been doing to my stomach.

Anyhow, just wanted to stop by and sign in. Looking forward to reporting my progress over the coming weeks.

Valdarez, I hope to begin by Monday as well, just waiting for my DVD's. I too drink A LOT of Mt. Dew and Coke. I started cutting my soda intake earlier in the week and I'm pretty sure I can cut it out entirely if I really put my mind to it. Good luck to both of us...and Go Cowboys!

Nice, post your info, and maybe we can keep track as we train.

I think I made a mistake of cutting my pain meds in half on day one. I've been on edge all day. Not sure I'll sleep tonight. Ideally want to hit 1/3rd of what I usually take long enough to build the back up again.

On the Cowboy front, we just got Dez Bryant (WR) in the draft! strange pick, but could be explosive later in the season.

                      Re: P90X

                      I just completed 30 days.

My before pictures compared to my 30 day picks are crazy different. My traps are more defined, my chest is getting much wider, and all in all my entire muscle structure is much more defined.

I am using the program to gain muscle mass and strengthen my core.

                      Starting weight = 165 lbs
                      30 day weight = 173lbs
                      average a week = 2lbs a week
Total gained = 8 lbs gained (4 weeks)

                      My supplements are
                      -Creatine
                      -Whey protein
                      -Mass gainer
                      -Jacked (pre-work out supplement)
                      -Men Vitamins

                      Diet plan
Being that I am trying to gain muscle mass. I am eating around 3000 to 4000 calories a day. This I will do for 8 weeks. Then the last month, which I plan on shredding. I will cut to my standard 2,400 calorie diet.

I drink only water, eat no sweets, only fruits, veggies, proteins, carbs like wheat bread and brown rice. Very strict plan but I am getting great results.

Nice Phobia. When I work out, I follow the diet to the letter. I lost 18 pounds the first 3 weeks, and then managed to put on 3 pounds in the 4th week (which really surprised me). So net loss in the first month was 15 pounds. I'm hoping to hit the same numbers this go around.

For full disclosure, I've ordered a Flex belt as well. My lower back and lower adombinal areas are very unstable right now to the point I'm going to have to do basic surgery recovery strengthening. I'm hoping the flex belt can help speed up the lower abdominal strengthening. (I had a L4/L5 fusion, discectomy, and then cracked the fusion and was forced to have another stabilization rod put in place).

                          Nice job Phobia!

I'm at 213...210 is pretty much my goal. I don't want to go under 200.

205 would probably be the best for my trip to Costa Rica in July haha

This is the hardest part for me. I'm so used to having taste with what I drink. I tend to make a lot of KoolAid, Tea, and now I've added flavored water with Splenda (just stocked up yesterday). Cutting my coke intake is the hardest thing. I swear I crave the carbonated feeling when I drink just as much as the taste.

So I think I threw my p90x a little off track.

No workout day 7, 1, 2, 3, 4 and I have consumed a number of beverages not good for your health and ate a lot of greasy stuff since Thursday. Damn music festivals I shoulda taken my weights!

As long as you get back on track it's alright. You can't change the fact you fell off. Might as well get back on.
