      Question for you guys....

How much would you guys pay a teenage neighbor to come over two or three times a week to let dogs out once a day for about 10-15 minutes? I generally take my dogs to camp a couple days a week but it is $25/dog for camp and I take two of mine there, so it's expensive. I wanted to cut that down to $100 a week. It's not that much work for the teenager, I was thinking $10. I think when I was 16 I would have walked across the street for 15 minutes to earn $10, but I don't know what teens are like these days lol. What do you guys think?
      I'd say $10 a visit

One of the greatest dog life hacks I have ever learned is that they value an ice cube almost as much as a treat.

My Jack Russell would come running from any corner of the house when he heard a cube hit the kitchen floor out of the freezer door dispenser.

Sky is our newly adopted Labrador Retriever. He is currently in an old large dog crate but he will be transferred to a new cage and bed the moment I received the pet supplies that I have purchased online. He is a bit shy, the dog crate door is open yet he prefers to stay inside.

My old man is having a hard time getting up and around. His back left leg just can't support him.

He's almost 17 and seeing him this way is starting to take a toll on us.

So much, we are thinking about putting him to sleep.

We are struggling with this, especially with the holidays coming.

I remember your boy Joe, because he looks so much like my Rocky did. Cockers are the best.

As hard as it is, you'll know when the time is right to let him go to the Bridge. Hopefully it's not that time yet. Savor every moment you have with him.

Just got back from Animal Hospital. Our old man Stanley has crossed over the bridge.

As much as it hurts, we knew it was the right thing to do. Stanley you were best bud ever. I hope you are enjoying that eternal dog park over the bridge my friend...

So sorry for your loss, Joe.

Losing such an important part of the family is never easy. We've had to make that decision a couple of times now and it sucks but when it's the right time you just know. It will be hard but things will get better eventually. RIP Stanley.

                        I'm so sorry, Joe.

That picture of him running in the snow is fantastic. You gave him a great life, and he's telling all of the other dogs at the Bridge how lucky he was to have you.

This part always hurts like hell. But the fact it hurts so much is more proof of how special Stanley is.

It's literally the saddest thing ever. These seem to be the beings that humanize us best, and make us wish they could outlive us if we had the chance. I am terribly sorry for your loss.

Slightly related, I've made mention of my little Olivia who I got to watch all of the time when living in the Bay Area, but I moved at the end of June and haven't been able to see her since. She is eight years old, and as a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel I'd say she is likely to only have a couple of good years left, but I hope she has another half-decade and that I get to see her every time that I return to the Bay Area. I know she misses me, that's a certain.

I've mentioned making a calendar of her for her owners, my mom, and myself. I first tried Mpix, but have since went to Shutterfly, and I love the end-product. Here's what they're going to see when they open it Christmas day:

I love dogs that head-tilt, by the way. One of the cutest things that Olivia does that I never got a photo of.
