I agree with whoever posted that you don't really see this trend in the NHL, The Show, etc forums. This is almost exactly why the Madden forum has gone to hell. Every second post is some annoying comment like "I'm done with this game. I'm sick and tired of Madden/EA stealing $60 from me", or a backhanded comment directed at Ian or EA about how they don't put effort into the game and on and on and on.

The first comment frustrates me to no end when you can just go and rent, gamefly, etc. It seems like a lot of people here are too quick to spend the money on the newest game on the 1st day and in the end they wish they had never bought it, then they feel the need to come on here and tell all of us this.

I'll be honest, I've had a few moments like that where I'm quick to buy a game in the first week/day and I end up regretting it but I don't feel the need to preach to a thousand people on here that they shouldn't get the game or to stop buying a certain companies game. This is why I've started renting games (more specifically sports games) more often.

Look at NBA 2K10 for example. As tempting as it was to buy it 1st day, I went to Blockbuster and rented it. Sure enough there were all those bugs and glitches that popped up in the game and we had to wait a little while for a patch to fix these issues. While some people were tripping out about "I spent $60 on this game and can't play it until the patch comes out!", I gladly went back to Blockbuster on the due date and took the game back. I'd much rather spend $10 on a game to see if I like it than spend $60 (in Canada its closer to $80 after taxes) and be stuck with a game that I don't like or has a bunch of glitches that ruin the game.

This trend has been going on ever since I joined this site! Well, not nearly to this extent but it's an age old phenomenon here.

It's pretty much why I stay clear of the sports game sections.

I first came to this site because I have enjoyed sports games all my life. I came here because I thought it would be cool to discuss sports gaming with others, but truth be told, I probably enjoy them less now because of this site. I end up noticing far too many flaws that people point out on this site that I probably would have never noticed on my own. I was never really nit picky about games before I joined this site....I was never really as nit picky about realism before I joined this site. Its my own fault for letting all that stuff rub off on me, but I'm trying to go back to my roots now and just enjoy games as they come and for what they are. Games are just entertainment...nothing more and nothing less. I think we all take them to seriously sometimes.

Same here, before I joined here I never used sliders never noticed little bugs or glitches and enjoyed sports games a lot more. Now I find myself constantly going from slider thread to thread updating my sliders, and not playing the game to have fun. I love this site but in a way it has ruined sports gaming for me. I now know every bug Madden has, and can't just pick up and play anymore without checking sliders.

Expectations have changed. Games have changed.

But some games have come to a complete stand still or regressed in some areas.

My problem is with the football games. Everything else I'm cool with.

Honestly, I'm glad for it. I don't buy games on release day unless I know they will be good *GTA 4, MW2*.

OS has given me the willpower to wait out a game, which is really more than I can ask for. Usually, about a month after release, you'll know if the game is worthy of a buy or not.

Thankfully, I did that with NBA 2k10 and I absolutely love the game.

It was a more a statement towards the general population's train of thought...at least that part was.

But you know...I am grateful I can spend $60 for a game and gets 100+ hours of entertainment. To me that's a pretty decent value.

                          Part of it is priorities.

Game modes may be broken or buggy, yet the louded people are complaining about the Cavs not having white headbands on the road or whatever.

There are some fundamental flaws in a few of the games released this year, but the amount of noise and attitude about it is pretty alarming.

Great post AA, but I need to add something, as this cycle increases the grammar of primarily the younger members continues to get worse and worse. I hate being a "Grammar Nazi" since who am I "theyre [sic] English teacher" but it is to the point of being ridiculous! Sure some common abbreviations and internet terminology is one thing, but a forum post that resembles the text message of a ******** monkey has got to stop.

Well, I remember the SNES games from tecmo. Tecmo Baseball you just switched to pitcher view , moved your pitcher to the right, and threw changeups for strikes. Tecmo Basketball, you could hit a 3 point everytime from a specific part of the floor. Tecmo Football, nobody could ever stop a halfback dive play.

The result? Some of the most fun I've ever had gaming, and the most time I've ever spent.

And Triple PLay gold on Genesis...LOVED it. Can't remember if it was arcadish back then too...it probably was. And hardball 5. LOVED it.

I think before there was "arcade/sim feel," there were arcade games and sports games. "Sim" was for the PC and maybe Tony Larussa games. But they didn't PLAY sim. NBA jam, Archrivals, Pro Impact Football, or (whatever it was) that were obviously arcade, and started in one. And the "sim" style, never really was ever sim.

But NBA live 97 was the perfect level of depth to a basketball game for me. The 2k series got to be too much lol on ps2. Baseball and Football I want to do everything, and in basketball I don't want to train players/scout etc...I want to trade/sign and play the games. Call a few plays.

The point is that all these games on last gens were FUN. I liked diff styles of games. Now we have 3 companies making sports games. And only 2 games for each sport on any given console. Exclusive licenses and consolidation are who I blame for this.

And let's try not to post like ******** monkeys. /throws poop at corporations.
