Yea for 5 years now, I used to live up north and I never saw anything really out of the ordinary, Obviously Florida is home to all sorts of things, but it's just a crazy difference. I see things all the time that just makes me say what the hell?

It's funny how many people are bothered by spiders. They don't bother me any. I hate slugs though. I remember one night when I was at my aunt and uncles cabin on French Creek in NW Pa, it was damp and slugs kept crawling up the fishing rods which were resting with their ends on the gravel of the area we fished from. Yuck!.

I hate spiders. I tried to get the wife to let me buy a shotgun, so the next time I see one I can end it's life quickly. Flamethrower would work as well.

                  Absolutely hilarious!

Anyway, I hate spiders. Always have. Don't care how small or big they are. Don't care if they don't bite. Don't care if they're the nicest spider around. I hate them.

I lived in Indiana for 13 years before moving to South Florida last summer. There aren't that many 'freaky' spiders or even bugs in Indy. Never really had a bad spider/bug experience either.

But moving to South Florida last summer, I've encountered TONS of weird looking spiders and MASSIVE roaches. Just living in here for 7-8 months now, I've already had a couple experiences. Back in August there was a brown recluse spider in my bathroom. Was brushing my teeth, looking in the mirror and saw something in the reflection of the mirror climbing on the wall behind me. Turned around and it was a brown recluse. Scared the hell out of me. Ended up killing it pretty easily. A few weeks later, I'm sitting in my room with the tv on and I'm on the computer. I see something huge crawling on my wall. Turn the light on and it's seriously the biggest cockroach I've ever seen. I hate those damn things. Took me literally 30-40 minutes to finally kill it. It kept going under my bed and hiding behind my desk etc. It was actually like 1 am too and I was about to go to sleep.. definitely wasn't going to sleep knowing there was a massive roach somewhere in my room.

Most likely it wasn't a brown recluse, they don't live in South Florida, only sometime found in extreme North Florida. It could have hitched a ride though from some where else.

Your right Brown Recluses are very rare in South Florida, if their are any there at all.

Here is a good map of Recluse territory, so I guess there are Brown Recluses in South Florida, but I still highly doubt you saw one, it would have been rare, but who knows?

Yeah I'm not sure which type it was. But one of my friends saw it after I had killed it and he swears it was a brown recluse. Who knows. All I know is that it was the biggest spider I've ever encountered aside from my teacher in middle school having a pet tarantula. lol.
