Who knows when one could drop from the ceiling and start crawling on your head?

I saw a spider crawling around our house this weekend.

I didn't kill it. I allowed it to live so it could find and haunt one of you guys.

        You're welcome.

The only thing I let live is the house centipedes as they hunt and kill spiders and other bugs.

some info about them, they are spider killers

            ... Great [/sarcasm]

I didn't even know I was afraid of spiders til I saw that three-inch wolf spider in my kitchen.

The worst I had to deal with up north was the occasional daddy long legs or one-inch centipede in my basement. Now I'm looking out for cockroaches (we have had good luck so far *fingers crossed*), giant poisonous spiders, crazy flying insects, etc.

Leave a couple spider corpses scattered throughout your house.

That will scare the other ones from ever coming out of the shadows.

This reminds me of a spider incident I had during the fall.

So if you guys didn't know, I'm in HS and I'm on our schools rowing team. As I'm getting in the boat I see a 2 inch, hairy (hairy spiders suck) spider staring me in the eyes. I jump back and since I dont want to touch it, I decide to let it crawl on my shoe (which is in my hands) so I can fling it in the river. So once it gets on my shoe and I try to fling it off, I accidentally throw my shoe across the river. Somehow it slid across at least 20 ft to the dock where a kid picked it up. The spider stayed on but the other kid removed it and proceeded to throw me back my shoe--spider free.

Oh and I mean a 2 inch body, not including its legs.

                      Re: Spider in my bed

Biggest spider I've seen was down by the river. Now, understand there's a huge pharmaceutical/experimental station company that sits on the river. I know that river is disgusting, and we sometimes joke that the animals that live in/near it are mutations.

So we go down to our spot, and hop over this fallen tree. BS around and someone spots this spider. Dude this thing was as big as my hand. It's body was like the size of a ping pong ball, but it's legs... oh god, it's legs. Had to be about 4 inches long, each. We had all stepped right over it. It was kind of like a way oversized Daddy Long Legger (which I just wiki'd but those seem so much more vicious then what we refer to them as... it's basically a harmless small body, but long leg spider... kinda creepy but one of the few spiders that doesn't scare me).

I haven't been down there since. Never going to go there again.

Apostle already mentioned Hobo bites. They're pretty isolated to the Northwest US and terrible climbers, so they are the little ****s who stop your heart when you're about to step into the shower at 5:30 in the morning. If you're squeamish, don't click on the spoiler.

I'm not bothered by spiders in general, but THAT is why I'll **** up anything looking remotely close to a Hobo.

I think that's a fake image. Someone once posted that as a result of being bitten by a fiddler spider (aka the brown recluse spider).

FWIW, brown recluse and hobo bites are nearly identical. Even though they have completely separate ranges, they're mistaken for each other all the time.
