No truer words have been spoken. No one could ever say that they are happy that my best friend died (in fact it distorted, if not wrecked, many people's view on how ****ed up life is by taking the sweetest, most kind-hearted kid we have ever met), but I can honestly say for myself that I wouldn't be where I'm at if it wasn't for his death, and I couldn't be any happier for who I am.

Biggest non-life/death related moment is moving from Fresno to Los Angeles.

Absolutely horrible in its own right.

This is actually pretty easy for me. When i was in highschool(sophmore or Junior) My dad had to have major Heart Surgury. The night before his surgury he wanted to eat a Big burger because he would not be able to eat stuff like that for awhile.

So we had BK and the entire time I was trying to eat, i was just thinking how F'ed it was eating this crap the night before My dad has Surgury that he could potentially die from.

Basically a year later I was much Healthier and skinny, and I got to realize my childhood dream and be in the army.

Re: The moment that changed your life forever

Some great stories here, I too have lost one of my best friends so, I can relate with all of you.

On a lighter note, I can pretty much point out ONE decision that changed my life forever.

In December 2004, I had just moved from Florence, AL to Mobile, AL after going through a divorce. I took a job working as a car salesman despite having zero sales experience. Now I can't say that I hated selling cars but, it's definilty up there with one of my worst jobs ever. Even though I did have some pretty decent paydays.

One Saturday night in February two of my friends and I decided to go eat at Felix's a restaurant on the causeway heading toward Pensacola. Once we got there we found out that there was a two hour wait so, one of the guys asked if we wanted to go on to Pensacola (I had never been there before). So, I talked about it with my other friend and we agreed that we wanted to go to Arety's Angels. This was about a year after the whole Mike Price debacle so, we wanted to see what this guy threw away his chance to coach the University of Alabama for. Once we got there it was nothing too special just your average strip club so, we decided to go bar hopping.

We ended up in downtown Pensacola at a bar called Seville Quarters. I was hanging out the bar upstairs when I noticed this tall, lanky, blonde eyeing me from the other side of the bar. She wasn't really my type so, I wasn't planning on going to talk to her when all of the sudden I got a tap on my shoulder. It was another girl who was friends with the blonde, she invited me over and I decided what the Hell, I might as well have a little fun and talk with these ladies.

Once I started talking to the blonde she asked me what I did for a living and I told her and expressed how I really didn't care for my job. She told me that she was the office manager at a National furniture chain in Pensacola. She told me about how business was booming because people where just getting back in their homes after Hurricane Ivan. I spoke with her for a couple of hours and then we went our separate ways.

The next week, I thought about what she said and came to the conclusion that I needed to go apply for a job in the Mobile store. Once I got there the manager told me that they weren't hiring but, that there was an opening in the Pensacola store! I was like bingo, I already have my "in". From there I called the blonde and she spoke with the manager of that store, who told me to come in. While driving there that day I was worried that I wouldn't get the job because I only had 3 months of sales experience. However, I ended up hitting it off with the manager and he hired me on the spot.

Anyways, to make a long story short, I ended up doing well there in sales and was moved into management within a year and a half. From there I managed my own store in Mobile until, March of 2008 when I was transfered to Baton Rouge.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if we hadn't of made that decision to go to Pensacola, on that one night almost 5 years ago, I probably would have never got into business management and I most certainly wouldn't be in Baton Rouge right now (living with my girlfriend, who I plan on marrying someday). It was just weird how that chain of events made everything change but, it all worked out, you know?

Probably when I was stupid enough to take advice from someone and took the General Arts and Science path in college instead of taking the media path. I had actually passed the examination to make it but was encouraged to go the other route.

I then ended up quitting college after that year and i've regretted it. I could probably be a reporter somewhere right now.

Oh well, that's life you live and learn.

                    EDIT:

I thought i'd mention one good moment that changed my life forever though. I've always been really thin due to the challenges i've been dealt with when I was born but when I was in high school it was to the point that I was literally wasting away. I was about 75 pounds at the most. My family and I were so worried that I was sent to a specialist.

I thank God that I went there as this specialist did the right thing. He told me every possible bad outcome that could happen to me how I would have osteoporosis, be confined to a wheelchair, contract tons of diseases and literally be dead before i'm 30. He then said that I have a choice to start eating or they'll have to put me on an extensive program where they'd put me in a hospital and have tons of feeding tubes up my nose and in my stomach etc etc.

The funny this is, i've tried appetite opening medicines and other things all my life before. They'd work for a time but then either they'd lose their effect or I would become too dependent on them. The thing that finally got me to eat was a doctor giving me every bad outcome in the book.

Now i'm at about 115-120 pounds which isn't great but it's sustainable and considering all i've been through is probably the best i'll be. I did balloon up to 130ish for about a year though.

                      1) When I decided not to transfer from Washington State University after my sophomore year. I was seeing a girl at another university and wanted to be closer to her so I thought about transferring. Decided not to, eventually broke up with that girl just a couple months later and met my current girlfriend of 4 years 6 months later. I would have been miserable at this other college.

                      2) When I decided to postpone graduating for 1 year and double major in Sports Management instead of just the degree in marketing. There's no way I'd be working in sports right now without that degree and the extra year getting another degree was totally worth it.

STPO, most likely when you get older your metabolism will slow down and that will help you keep on the weight.

I've been skinny as a string bean all of my life. I know some of it has to do with genetics as well. Both my parents, brothers, and sisters were all skinny at one point or another but everyone seems to gain weight as they get older but I'm still just as skinny as ever.

Cocaine overdose and spending 8 hours in the hospital hooked up to a machine with my heart racing 220+ beats per minute. Told me they were hoping my heart wouldn't explode. Thankfully it didn't, though it was bruised and hurt for several days there after. Doc told me it was the equivalent of running a marathon when you hadn't run a day in your life. Couldn't have any stimulant for the next week. Try cutting out cocaine, nicotine (dipped 1.5 cans Copenhagen a day), and coca cola (drank 6 to 10 cokes a day, literally) all at once. It was a tough week. Thankfully, I asked Christ into my heart that day, was able to get through it, and I haven't looked back since. That was 17 years ago.
