I'm only 17, but when I was 9 I was hit by a car. (going about 40-45 mph in front of my house) I was in ICU for 3 days and the hospital for a week. Had a skull fracture and my legs and whole body was totally bruised and messed up. I can do everything I did before the wreck. I'm smart and a pretty good athlete, but sometimes I wonder how much better I would be if I didn't get hit that day.

Re: The moment that changed your life forever
2007- Going on a field trip to Soldier Field..It is what my life is right now. I have interned with the Chicago Bears for over two years now. It has also helped me open many doors along the way. I am hoping to intern with the Walter Payton Cancer Fund this summer. And part of the reason I am at a school like Bradley is because of my boss..I honestly have no idea what my life would be like without the Bears.
This Summer- My grandma passing away. Very difficult to deal with because she was a blessing and probably the nicest person I will ever meet in my life..She never had anything bad to say about anyone. It was also difficulty because she was the first person I lost close to me..and I am 19. I always can keep my emotions in check..But I broke several times during the funeral..
After writing that..Life is moving by way too fast. I am almost halfway done with college. It seems like in grade school days go by fast..High school is weeks..and now College is months.Last edited by Kevin26385; 12-16-2009, 10:29 PM.Comment

Re: The moment that changed your life forever
For me:
I know the minute my life changed forever. It was 11:47 pm on November 8th, 1999. That's the night that I lay and watch my younger Brother take his final breath on this earth. He was 19 years old, my best friend, and had battled cancer for 5 years.
There is nothing like sitting in a hospital room, with your little brothers hand clutched in your own. Knowing he is minutes away from death, and not having the words to change any of it.
I remember looking into his eyes before he slipped into a coma, and we both just looked at each like...bro its ok. It was truly the hardest thing I have ever had to watch or be part of.
It was so hard on my parents and other 2 brothers, that they couldn't even be in the room for the last couple of hours. All I could do was tell them its was ok, and that I would stay in there with him. I remember having to walk out as calm as possible, and look my mother in the eyes, and tell her that baby boy had died.
My life has never been the same since.Last edited by bluengold34_OS; 12-16-2009, 11:46 PM.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: The moment that changed your life forever
Everytime something happens where I think I had some sort of life changing epiphany, something else happens to swing me back the other way.
The past year and a half has made me extremely jaded towards the world.
You think working hard getting good grades and a college education is the ticket to an easier life and thats just not the case. The corporate culture in this country is a more uneven playing field then college football."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Re: The moment that changed your life forever
I can relate too, considering we had to pull the plug on my sister, and I was in the hospital room alone with my best friend who had cancer just a few days before he finally died.
Just an overall awful feeling.Comment

Re: The moment that changed your life forever
Damn sorry to hear that man, very touching! I lost my older brother he died in his sleep. He said he had a headache and died that night. I saw him about 2 days before that. He called me on the phone that night and told me he had a head ache. Two days later we go to his apartment and he was dead. It was very heavy. I feel like I should have check on him the next day, but I was very busy with college and just life. But it still haunts me to this day and it has been 12 years now.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: The moment that changed your life forever
I watch my little cousin die, but with my brother I never got that chance. I don't now what is worst watching them suffer or knowing they died in peace in their sleep, but never got to say goodbye to them. The selfish part of me want to be able to say good bye, but then the right thing in me say your brother died the best way. Sure you can't say good bye, but at least they didn't suffer. Watching my little 12 year old cousin say she is ready to die and close her eyes was very hard to witness.Comment

Wow, I am sorry brother..... I just sent you a pm
I am sorry to hear that Scott, these things truly are life changing events. The thing thats so hard about a story like yours, is that you never had a chance to say goodbye. They say that time heals all wounds...but there are some wounds that are just too big bro.Comment
