Re: Your brain fart(s) of the day

A brain fart that thankfully didn't happen, but was literally 2 seconds away from happening:

I was waiting for the elevator so I could go up, and once it came, the person ahead of me got in first, and I was about to be like "are you going up or down?". Nothing wrong with that right? Just wanting to see if we're taking elevator in same direction. Thankfully I saw what button they pressed before asking, cause I then remembered......I'm already on the bottom floor.

Re: Your brain fart(s) of the day

A partial brain fart, more like an unintentional jerk moment of the day I still feel bad about.

I was gonna walk through a door, and someone ahead of me went in first...except they turned away and walked back out. I didn't know what was wrong so I just continued right past them and straight through the door. Little did I know, that other person turned around cause there was a guy in crutches exiting so he was just making room for that guy. I didn't know and I was too far in to turn back out since he was already like right past me when I realized it. He even slightly bumped into me and HE apologized.

Like I said, I still feel bad about that. Didn't do any of it on purpose and had I known the situation, definitely wouldn't have even walked in until afterwards. And of course him apologizing afterwards made me have the ultimate "I feel like a jerk" moment. In situations like this I'm often the one who does get out of peoples way, hold door open and so on. For some people, something like that might not bother them at all but for me it kinda does.

Only positive thing about any of this was that it looked like some guy in his 30s who was just in a walking boot and wasn't struggling using the crutches and wasn't mad or anything I ended up being in his way. Had it been someone older(or younger like a kid) or just someone struggling with crutches, would've made me feel so much worse.

I tried to expunge a bunch of $1 bills from my wallet today, and when buying something that was $13 in cash, I only had twelve $1's, then I also had a $5. Confused with what to do with it, I just gave all $17 to the cashier, hoping she would sort out the change. She did it pretty easily by giving back four of my $1 bills.

As a math teacher, I felt pretty embarrassed.

Stopped at a 4-way Stop sign this morning. Me, the only car on the lonely road. I guess I must've been in deep thought over something or another. I sat there for a moment when I realized I could just go, I guess I was waiting for the sign to turn green.

Yesterday I accelerated into a left turn right away on green light, but it was a left turn yield light and someone was coming the other way.

Felt really dumb. Gave a big elaborate "apology wave" and "my bad" gesture to the other driver. It is the first time that has happened since I moved to Colorado.

Me being alone at a four-way traffic light stop at 2AM, I once honked at a light that wasn't turning green.

Thought it would wake up the person in the surveillance control center monitoring and controlling every Bay Area traffic stop.

Lol, similar thing happened to me in past. I think I even posted about it here. I was once waiting for a light to change so I could cross.....Except it already was changed and in actuality I was waiting for it to change back and then I'd be going through when I shouldn't have.

I've got a couple good ones that happen to me regularly. I'll spend five minutes looking for my earbuds while they're in my ears blaring music. I have a habit of putting toothpicks in my mouth when I can't smoke in a public place, I'll end up going on break at work or just leaving whatever place I'm at for a bit to not be rude, pull out a ciggie and light it - Nope, toothpick.
I'll go to scratch my eyebrow, nose, lip, or chest sometimes and freak out when I feel something there until I remember I have piercings.
And I've had a couple times where I've gone to get a glass of juice in the morning and end up with a glass of Jameson. I really need to get my **** together.

Last week I coudnt find my car keys that also has my school keys. My brother had to bring me a spare 30 minutes away. Destroyed my house looking for them. Finally found them......in my bookbag.

When anybody asks I say they were locked in the car.

                      I've got a Twofer.

Last weekend my lawn mower wouldn't start, so I thought it might be the battery. While I was taking it off, I figured since I was going out I might as well get lunch, so I put the battery on the patio and went inside to ask my wife if she wanted to go to the local pizza joint. She did so we got ready, jumped in the car and took off. As we pulled into the parking of the restaurant lot I realized that the battery was still on the patio.

We had a couple of slices of pizza left over so we asked for a to-go box and of course we left it on the table.

That's terrible, I'd be more upset about the pizza though

Oof, I feel bad for the pizza!

I don't know why your story reminded me of mine here (I guess having to do with operating and handling powered equipment), but I had a brain fart in eighth grade that was probably to the level of "you're a moron" status.

It was around the time that GTA III had come out and I was eager to play it for the first time coming home from school on a Friday (couldn't play games on weekdays... 'cept Friday of course). I also had to go to the bathroom, so I did that business first and washed my hands without drying. Anyway, my PS2 was unplugged probably because I brought it to a friend's house the weekend before, so I had to plug it in.

The prongs were sticking out, though. So, how do you adjust prongs? Pinch them, of course. Only thing is you don't pinch them while you're plugging it in! Combined with wet hands, I received a massive shock. First I've ever had, last I've ever had, only I ever want to have. It was frightening.

I guess I was just really eager to play GTA III.

Went in the teacher's lounge today to get lunch out of the refrigerator. Was sure I put it in there the day before. Nope. Found it in the back seat of my car. Had to be trashed.

I've done that, but it was while using the extra outlet in my bathroom to charge my phone during a shower (I like to listen to music while I shower, Spotify is a godsend), I managed to shock myself twice and that led to me shouting many a word I can't repeat here. Getting electrocuted once sucks, but doing it again five minutes later and knowing it was your own stupidity that caused it? It changes you, man.

In my last period class of the day, my students were taking a quiz where I had to call out a trigonometric identity and they had to write some equivalent of it.

When instructing how the quiz would work, I threw in this little gem:

"I'll give you thirty seconds to finish after I call each of them out, and I'll also give you aids while we're doing it if that makes you feel better."

I didn't even catch it. Nearly every student giggled and I later found out why.
