My Christmas eve sucked too. We had the wifes family over for Christmas eve. Everybody starts coming over around evening. Then I see my wifes sister come in with her boyfriend and her friggin dog! Everyone Ive ever known knows Im allergic to cats and dogs. The wheezing is pretty bad. I couldnt tell you guys how much angst I held back that nite while that dog was running around my new house. Is it just me, or is that one of the rudest things to do? Especially when you know the person is alleregic.

Needless to say I slept a total of 2 hours on christmas eve and christmas nite. Finally felt better this moring after a total douching of the house.

That is unacceptable man. No offense, but maybe your wife could have mentioned to her sister about you being allergic. After all she knows you better than anyone. It should not have even gotten to that point. That's messed up man. Glad you feel better though.

our christmas consisted of my wife and I and our 4 kids and nothing / nobody else. we live in florida and our families both live in ohio and indiana. after the kids opened their presents, my wife and i went to see sherlock holmes and then we had a nice supper with our family that evening.

yeah, i kinda miss the old days when i was a kid and all the family got together. but all my grandparents are dead and life is just different now. our kids don't really know any different because they've never experienced a huge family christmas... we've simply created our own tradition of keeping it simple. and we're totally okay with that.

Better man than me. No way I let the dogs in the house, when they KNEW you are allergic. Have em sit in the car with plenty of water.

So on Christmas my sister decides to dump her fiance of 2 years. Which means she calls me and says I cannot come over and see my niece and nephew at all. Despite the fact that I spent $500 on them combined with an ipod touch for my niece and a PS3 for my nephew. When I try to push the issue my sister sends a profanity laced tirade my way via text. When I reply to her that I think her fiance is the fortunate one I get another profanity laced tirade from her ex-fiance who apparently still is living with her. So I'm 0 for 2.

Fast forward to the day after Christmas. My stepmothers birthday is today. So I jokingly post the following Seinfeld quote on my stepsisters facebook:

“Well, birthdays are merely symbolic of how another year has gone by and how little we've grown. No matter how desperate we are that someday a better self will emerge, with each flicker of the candles on the cake, we know it's not to be, that for the rest of our sad, wretched pathetic lives, this is who we areto the bitter end. Inevitably, irrevocably; happy birthday? No such thing.”

To which I get the following reply:

"All I have to say to you is that I have the best Mom in the world and why she ever felt bad for you last Christmas and tried to appologize to you is beyond me. Your the biggest pvssy I've ever meet in my life. Your such a waste to society. I could care less if your ugly @ss ever dropped off the face of this earth. No one cares about you!! Deal with it!!!!"

So I've been cussed out now by 3 different people this Christmas and honestly I have no real idea why. This has been the worst Christmas I think i've ever had and it's disheartening. I don't understand why there is so much hatred from folks during the holiday season, especially relatives. It's very hard to take.

Not saying you are but it seems you tried to be Mr. Jokes this holiday weekend but came off as an a-hole, just a little bit...

For my sister, no I don't think that Christmas is the day you put yourself first. It's supposed to be a day for the children, not your drama queen nonsense. I drove two hours to see the kids and spent several hundred dollars and she basically can't put her kids needs above her own so that they can enjoy christmas. Also, it wasn't just ME that was unable to enjoy Christmas over there because of her stupidity, it was EVERYONE. I'm sorry but that is just beyond the pale and I don't think anyone here who is defending her and her issues knows just how truly immature she is. I would def. be more understanding if this was an isolated incident but she's always doing stupid stuff like this and making the kids and her family suffer. For instance last Christmas my sister didn't like the fact that the family was going to see the laser light show so she cussed me and the family out, dropped the F' bomb a number of times and made her 9 year old son cry. That was her drama queen moment of the year and her finest hour until this year. I didn't think she could top that but she surpassed even my wildest expectations, LOL. As for her boyfriend, I wasn't too surprised about how he acted, i've watched enough Cops! to know that when a couple is fighting anyone that gets involved is a target so that was pretty much par for the course.

Now in regards to my stepsister, yes perhaps I was wrong in posting a quote from Seinfeld onto the facebook but it was not intended to be mean but rather as humourous. I think the reply was just utterly ridiculous and completely uncalled for. Even if what I posted was not a Seinfeld quote and just me pontificating I don't think you speak to someone else in that manner for any reason, especially not someone in your family. Maybe she should have taken the time to ask me what I meant by it before ripping into me? No I honestly don't care about her or her mom anymore as I really don't have much of a relationship with them or my dad anyways (we have nothing in common). Also, I know that by posting her comment on Facebook for all the world to see was probably not the best thing to do but if she's not proud of it she shouldn't have written it. If she had honestly criticized me and put forth real emotion and tried to reconcile with me then obviously I would never have posted it but she didn't choose to go that route.

All in all I think at age 39 I'm about done with the holidays...I'm not even really religious at all anyways so it doesn't really matter to me other than the sheer tradition of it all.

I had actually given them their gifts on Christmas Eve, thank goodness. I just wasn't able to set them up for them or see them use them. My sister doesn't know anything about setting up that sort of stuff. I had to tell them how over the phone and via text messages. Even then I had some stuff I was going to get my nephew setup with, such as a Modnation Racers beta, that I was unable to do so.

Usually we only let them open one gift on Christmas Eve but for some reason I just told them to open all of their gifts from my mom and I. Maybe I just, in the back of my mind, knew my sister would pull something on Christmas.

I still don't believe my nephew has figured out how to get his PS3 online though. He mainly wanted it for The Show and to be able to surf the net anyways though.

No I don't get a woman who can ruin her kid's Christmas by throwing a temper tantrum with her boyfriend and canceling Christmas by way of a screamed obscene, barely understandable shouting via phone message by way of her 13 year old daughter. Nor do I get a 41 year old woman who types vulgar an hate-filled email messages for no real, discernible reason.

But maybe someday, if senility creeps into my brain and turns it to mush then I will understand, and perhaps even seek to revel in, that level of immaturity. Maybe then I'll fit right in with those two and we can have wonderful, shouting, anger-filled Christmas' together and you will see us all on Cops!

I spent my christmas standing alongside a freezing I-675 staring at a dead body after a 5 car accident and nearly got hit myself by a car not paying attention.

I rarely have a christmas where things are all peachy and great. It happens. Just cherish the time you have with the people around you and things will get better.

I'm going to concentrate next year on only being around the people who are important to me. I am not going to force myself or my idea of Christmas on anyone. Maybe someday my sister will see the damage she's doing to her kids, I doubt it, she's 35 years old and you probably aren't going to change when you're that age.

I think the bottom line is that what my mom said is dead on, on my Dads side of the family they have a terrible Irish temper and my sister inherited it. She has serious rage issues. She probably (maybe?) regrets how she acted. I know she texted my mom that she ruined Christmas but she never said anything to me about it and honestly I don't know if she meant it in those terms.

It sounds like your Christmas was terrible as well. That just sounds awful. Hopefully next year both of us have a better time.

The Holidays are tought times for a lot of people. Lots of emotions running through peoples heads.

Sometimes it's best to just slow down and wait for the time to pass. People usually come around as long as the damage isn't too great.

It is not about that. It is YOUR attitude. Sure what she did was wrong, but YOU didn't help that by what YOU did. I know you want to give those kids some kick *** gifts, but why? Was it for YOU or them. I think you need to be more nicer even if they are being mean and immature. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Be above them and do the better thing. That is what I am talking about, it is not easy, but you should try it.
