    Re: Insanity

Day 4 complete. Good lord, I thought the recovery day would be easy. Yoga killed me! I was shaking like a bastard trying to hold some of the poses. I still worked up a killer sweat as well.

Not gonna complain though. It felt good to not have to take an ice cold shower today

Words can't describe how much better I feel overall since starting this. I'm much more alert, and on less sleep at that, as I have to wake up about an hour earlier to get the workout in before the wife and kids get home. Can't wait to break through the "holy crap, take the knives out of my calves" stage!

      Day 5: Pure Cardio complete.

      O....M....F....G....

Probably the hardest workout i've ever completed. And complete it I did. I got to that breaking point today toward the end, heartrate through the roof, in the middle of burpees, where I wanted to just lay down and die. Never has the term dig deeper resonated more, as I found some apparently untapped source of energy and killed myself completing the rest of the workout. Never have I felt better after a workout.

Man oh man though, I sure did miss the water breaks in between circuits . I still took a few breaks on my own, as did pretty much everyone in the video. I'm so happy with the progress so far though, as i'm able to get through these workouts without feeling like vomiting after. I think the biggest difference, along with just overall improvement to my cardio, is the extra emphasis i'm placing on breathing properly. It also helps me concentrate more and not burn out.

No kidding man. I was gasping toward the end of pure cardio today during the 8/8 splits. I actually dropped to the floor at the end of one of the pushup sets, and had to will myself back up to finish the plank mountain climbers. 16/16 is....well, insanity. Can't wait!

Yeah, if nothing else, I do have a morbid curiosity about how I will feel after getting the hang of the month 2 workouts, because as you've said, one really does feel a lot better throughout the day after doing Insanity.

Starting week 4 today, then the recovery week, and then month 2.

Absolutely. It blows my mind, because i'm dead tired before the workouts (do them right after I wake up), but afterwards, i'm freakin wide awake. I'm much more alert during the day, and in a better mood overall. I also sleep like a baby now, typically for atleast 6 or 7 straight hours. Even after the first plyo cardio circuit, I was playing around with the little one working up a sweat, and where I usually would have been tired, I still felt good. I feel great now a couple hours after finishing the pure cardio as well.

Let me know how month 2 treats ya. I wanna know what i'm getting into here!

Will do, but I'm more excited for the recovery week lol.

Heading back into the fray now with Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs, a harsh workout to start the week with.

don't get it twisted, the recovery week is not easy. it totally caught me off guard! it relieves you in terms of the cardio, but you will still be cooked by the end of the workout...

Absolutely. If you don't go low enough on the power squats, stance jacks etc then it'll be an easy workout. Same goes for if you coast through the "easier" exercises like mountain climbers.

I have days where I'm either tired or just don't have the pep in my step and have a crappy workout with Insanity. Whatever, it happens from time to time, no biggie. But I can tell when I really give 100% in a workout and when I do I never complete a workout all the way through, I have to stop and take a few breaks. That's when I know I'm really busting it.

My sister tried Cardio Circuit one time and thought it was "not too bad", I just laughed and told her to try harder next time.

                      Week 1 - Complete!

Man, this was the hardest week of my fitness life. Today's plyo cardio circuit was so brutal, as I was actually able to push my body through the whole thing this time. The rate of cardio improvement with this program is honestly mindblowing. I'm to the point that I can keep my heart rate right around 190 for more extended periods of time, as opposed to burning out almost as soon as I hit 190 earlier in the week. I was pushing so hard doing the in and out's at the end that I actually collapsed face first to the floor . I got up and finished the jabs and attacks however.

The wife was kind of worried, as today was the first she has watched me do it, as I typically do it when they are at daycare still. She thought I was gonna die .

I'm gonna relish every second of tomorrow's off day, and get right back to it Monday.

Did Lev 3 drills today. They aren't hard...it's doing it in the same circuit as power pushups, power jumps, and suicide jumps that kill you. It's ridiculous. Then on the 3rd set to see the maniac in the backrow smoking those power pushups is amazing. Guy is bigger than Shaun T.

I'm starting this today with the Mrs when I get home from work. The fit test is pretty short (but intense) isn't it?

Yeah, the fit test is ~25 minutes, and that includes a minute break between each exercise. It's also intense, specifically the power jumps, which just blow me away every time, both in the fit test and in the regular workouts.
