    Re: Insanity

Day 2: Plyo Cardio Circuit complete. Well, for the most part

Hit the in and out's and about died. I kept trucking as well as I could, but my body was starting to hit a wall, so I went at a slower pace so I could atleast finish it. Best part is, after having a banana and a scoop of whey with water 30 minutes prior to the workout, the only nausea I battled was your typical "hey buddy, this is your body breaking down" you get during heavy cardio exercise. Kept going though. As someone said earlier, it literally looked like I walked through a rainstorm at the end of the workout.

Also, is it realistic for my heartrate to hit 190-191 during the high intensity periods? Seems kind of high, but that's what my Timex monitor is saying. I think it's working right, as when I get it down, it sits around 160-170, then back up to 190 or so during the high intensity parts. Just want to make sure i'm not overdoing it. I am only 24, so I assume i'm alright. Like I said, I do make sure to get it down a bit before starting again when he gives you a water break, as I know i'll burn out way too fast if I don't.

Didn't even know this thread was here. JUST finished day 60 about fifteen minutes ago.....I can answer any questions people may have.

From 211 to 187 and in the best shape I've been in since high school. 33 years old....gonna restart the whole thing Saturday and can't WAIT to do the month one workouts again (month 2 ones are rough and longer....)

I can still remember when I was rolling around on the floor like a little girl because of month one plyo.....
The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!

Haha, that was me yesterday. The in and outs murdered me, atleast what I could do of them. Today (well, in about 15 minutes after the banana digests) is cardio power and resistance. I don't know how i'll get through this, as I literally can't feel my calves after yesterday

Don't worry. I was so sore after the first four days that I was sitting down like an old man with a sore butt. But after the first week that goes away and then it's all just pushing yourself...

Month two knocks you back a bit, but not as bad as I feared. The only thing that month 2 does is make the workouts longer, but there are definitely some rests while he explains routines and stuff.

I loved it though. My wife finished this morning and she's just gonna start running over the summer, but I'm gonna go for round two as I am approaching ab lines and all of that good stuff thanks to this workout (and replacing french fries and crap with asparagus and nectarines...)

Good to hear. I was worried last night at work when I went to sit down to take a #2, and basically fell onto the toilet .

One thing that was a small detail that I really liked was the music at the end of the plyo video. The hip hop type of beat was good for most of the video, but it got more, I don't really know how to say it...inspirational at the end. Plus, makes me feel good to see the guys in the videos struggling with the workouts as well.

LOL....I liked the people struggling until month 2 when Darren keeps you in a hip flexor stretch for ten minutes because he sucks at everything......

Just finished day 3. In three days, i've gone from puking the first day, to better but still not completing the workout the second day, to finishing the workout on the third day. Still needed a couple extra breaks, but I was still moving right through to the end.

Everytime I think it's almost over, Shaun throws something at you like 4 sets of 8 hop squats/pushups rapid fire. Bastard

                  Nice work Kerowack and Kearnzo!

I have only briefly looked at some of the workouts and just wanted to confirm that there is no equipment at all needed for this is there? I mean like with P90X where you needed dumbbells and a pullup bar but in insanity there is literally no equipment needed is there?

I thought these workouts could be good for me to use when travelling for work..

Nope, don't need anything. A yoga mat is optional for some of the ab stuff. One of the reasons I love this workout.

Nothing at all but a little space and a good pair of cross training shoes (IMO, as long as they have good support you should be good).

Another thing I wanted to add is how good I feel the rest of the day (well, night for me) after doing these workouts right after waking up. None of the grogginess I was used to when I was more sedentary. It really gets you going, and I've slept much better the last couple days after starting this program.

I just might have to try this.

My wife is looking to do some sort of workout program with me (we did p90x together and while she really struggled at first there is no doubt it worked wonders for her). She doesn't really like the usual gym type workouts I do so this would suit her well and we could do it together which is a bonus.

Sorry for all the questions but how many days per week is the program?

Don't worry about the questions man. How many have I asked you over the last year in regards to fitness and dieting?

It's 6 days a week if you do the cardio recovery on Saturday, which i've heard is highly recommended. First month, the workouts are probably 35-40 minutes long, and from what I hear, the second month jumps to 50+ minutes per workout on the Max days.

Yeah, I always took one day off (like the calender says). Month two workouts are an hour for Max Interval circuit, 55 for max plyo and cardio conditioning and cardio abs are an hour and six minutes together. Plus, Max recovery is 47 minutes.....all of the REAL workouts are an hour. The first month it's closer to 40 minutes for all.....

I'm looking forward to the next two days off and then getting back on the saddle saturday. By the time the school year starts next year, I'll be another down at least another ten when I meet the students......

One thing for people on the fence:

Don't buy it if you have ankle/knee problems. There is A LOT of jumping. I know somebody who couldn't take it at all because of a bad ankle issue.

And, this is weird to say, but the quality of the workout is really determined, by how hard you push yourself. I know a girl who says she skips through the dvd when it gets to a part she hates.....WHAT???? I didn't say anything, but I know she's defeating the purpose.

There is a point every day where I just get pissed/determined and make the reps happen...

I wish I could've made a comparison film to my jumping/movements now as opposed to my first week.

And for those who do level ONE drills (where it's 4 pushups/four runners)....wait until Level THREE drills where it's 16/16!

Awesome thanks for the reply's and advice fella's.

I have had some ankle issues in the past but nothing that didn't stop me from doing the plyo p90x workouts so I should be ok with this I would think.

I read on the site that supposedly some of the workouts can burn 1000 calories in a single workout which is insane (hence the name I guess ) so I know these workouts must be a challenge.

The mrs and I will start on monday and I'm looking forward to it for something different.
