Insanity is perfect for what you're trying to accomplish. Gets your quads/hip flexors etc back in gear (aka the explosive muscles that you don't use in every day life).
I noticed a pretty significant difference on the basketball court after just the first week of Insanity. It doesn't take long to wake up those muscles I mentioned above but it makes a big difference in your performance. Stamina, explosiveness, etc improves quite a bit. You get that "light on your feet" feeling pretty quickly when doing Insanity, so that sluggish/dead legs feeling you might get while playing intramurals will be gone.
If you've been really lazy for a few months though you will probably want to die halfway through the first real workout.
