Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I just ate dinner and my total calories for the day is right at 600. I'm stuffed too, so that's good. Still have to go do cardio and hit the sauna later. Tryin like hell to blast off all that weight I gained over Easter.Comment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Interesting article written on alternate day fasting in non obese subjects (albeit a pretty small sample size):
http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/full...urcetype=HWCIT
It found:
Conclusions: Alternate-day fasting was feasible in nonobese subjects, and fat oxidation increased. However, hunger on fasting days did not decrease, perhaps indicating the unlikelihood of continuing this diet for extended periods of time. Adding one small meal on a fasting day may make this approach to dietary restriction more acceptable. Results: Subjects lost 2.5 ± 0.5% of their initial body weight (P < 0.001) and 4 ± 1% of their initial fat mass (P < 0.001). Hunger increased on the first day of fasting and remained elevated (P < 0.001). RMR and RQ did not change significantly from baseline to day 21, but RQ decreased on day 22 (P < 0.001), which resulted in an average daily increase in fat oxidation of 15 g. Glucose and ghrelin did not change significantly from baseline with alternate-day fasting, whereas fasting insulin decreased 57 ± 4% (P < 0.001).
Lost body fat
Were hungry
Increased fat oxidation
Improved Insulin sensitivity
No change to resting metabolic rate
I also thought it was interesting to see thatProlonged dietary restriction (DR) is the only proven method of increasing the life span in rodents, flies, yeast, and wormsComment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Had a very strange day today...
Had a pizza from Sbarro for lunch at 'bout 1:30. Then the girlfriend wanted me to stop by her work after my class 'cuz she was hungry, so I had a McChicken and fries at like 6:30 (Damn you Mickey D's). So, then I get home at about 7:00 and my grandmother cooked some beef and rice... so I had a bowl of that too.
I did resist Taco Bell when my mom came home and made me go out and get her some...
Strange part is, I worked out my chest at the gym today and had a very strong workout. Don't know what the correlation is with fast food and working out, if any. LOL.
Tomorrow's biceps.
So what's everyone's workout routine for the week?
Mine is:
Sunday: Off
Monday: Chest/Abs
Tuesday: Biceps/Cardio
Wednesday: Chest/Triceps
Thursday: Shoulders/Cardio
Friday: Off
Saturday: Chest/Cardio
I would workout my back, but I usually get a good back workout at work lifting trays five days a week as a server. I don't wanna overwork my back muscles.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I'm going to try the ESE - that seems interesting, and at this point, I'm ready.
Workout wise, I play semi pro football as a kicker - so it's new to me, so I'm actually trying to get more cut so that when I get hit...I can absorb it (at least).
Also, I played full 90 minutes soccer tonight - that was a good work out, but my belly is still there, so tired of sucking it in every where I walk. Ugh.Comment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Weighed in this morning at 247.6, down about 11.8 pounds from start weight. That seems awfully fishy to me, as I've barely been doing this for maybe a week, and yesterday I ate relatively badly as I'm sick and dammit, I didn't want to do anything but sit, blow my nose, and watch baseball. I'm expecting something more like 254 tomorrow for my weigh in, but we'll see. I certainly don't feel much weight loss, but we'll see. Once I get over my cold I'll start heading back to the gym.
I'm not going to be doing any major weight lifting until I start seeing results from the cardio. I figure building stamina is probably the way to go instead of building muscle, which for some odd reason, I have a decent amount of it under all this flab. Although, I don't think this thread is for me any more, since there's talk about fasting and supplements. I'm just looking to eat less, do some cardio, and get down about 30 pounds. No real set routine, I'll either do the recumbent bike if I feel like it, or the elliptical if I feel like it, or walk if I feel like it. That's just my way of doing it. I like food too much to not eat in a day, so I'm just going to eat less, and better.
Also, on my weight, here's the graph of my last 13 weigh-ins. The green line is a trend line that is probably more in-touch with my real weight than the blue line is. You can see why I think the weigh-in is fishy.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I took a devastating loss last night at my fat club. I weighed in 2.2 pounds up. I had to get up in front of the entire group and say that I gained. I was really depressed last night. It's really too bad I can't get the same feeling of success from when I lose that I get from failure when I gain. If I did this would be easy. I was tempted to just say to heck with it last night and order a pizza but instead I just ate my can of tuna and went to bed early.
It was a double whammy this weekend because I got a bunch of feedback on my dating profile (see my women and the games they play thread) so it was extra hard. I think my only options in life at this point are to double down on it and try harder or just give up completely. At this point either option sounds about equally appealing.
I honestly, at this point, am trying subconsciouly to develop an eating disorder in my head I think..... I'm trying terribly to guilt myself even more with food, like the negative voice I hear when I pass a Mcdonalds saying "come on fat guy, stop and eat like a freakin' cow". I know it's not healthy. I just don't know what to do or try anymore. It's like i'm out of words to describe how badly I feel about things overall and how the negatives are overwhelmingly winning this week.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

That's why I'm 260 pounds and trying to lose weight. I'm proving to myself that I can be healthy. I can be svelte. I can be the guy I've always wanted to be. I'll be able to do the things I want, whether it's some pickup basketball in the park, or running after my dog. I looked in the mirror and said, "THAT'S IT. I'm sick of this flabby body."
It's easy to stop, ODogg. Trust me, there are a lot of people in this world that don't have the willpower to lose weight. But I know you have that willpower. You just have to find it again. I know it's in there.
Just because things look bad this week don't mean that they won't look rosy next week. We always have to take the bad with the good.
What I'm really trying to say here: You can do this, ODogg. I know you can.Rose City 'Til I Die

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Thanks Giggas, I know one thing, no matter what happens my relationship with food is never going to be the same. I really resent it now and I particularly hate fast food, junk food etc...so I honestly don't believe i'll backslide there. I'm just worried I am feeling like, in my head, that i've tried so hard and done just about everything and it's simply not possible. I'm a logical person and when I apply strict dietary standards and exercise to my life its simply illogical that i'd not lose weight. That's what really makes me so freakin' angry about all of this.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
