Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I'd be interested to see what kinds of bikes you guys are using... because when I work out I can average a good 100 calories every 6 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical (so easily 500 calories in a half hour), but when I hit the bike that number goes way down

i usually run on 12-14 resistance (although dif machines would have dif scales, so take that for what its worth), at an average of around 80 rpms...

idk, I always work up a really good sweat on the bike, and can feel the burn in my legs, but the rate I burn calories is drastically lower than the other machines

But my heart rate got to something absurd like 168 today, and I'm sure that's either A) not recommended or B) not good.
168... well it depends on how old you are first of all

for someone in there 20's, it's probably higher than the "optimal fat burning zone", but it is a perfectly reasonable heart rate for a high intensity workout

Yeah when I'm on the bike I average 100 RPM's but it takes me forever to burn off calories. And I'm sweating like a pig and my legs are burning so bad and I only end up burning like 160 calories. Then I come on here and people are saying they are burning a few hundred calories on the bike, it disappoints me lol.

The only thing I can think of is upping my level. I will try that tomorrow morning and come back with my results.

My statement was harsh...but damn sometimes you gotta be harsh to get a point across.

My diet isn't for everybody, I know that...but it's not about the DIET. It's about the amount of calories being consume and pushing the body.

In my opinion, people are too hung up on what the scale says. If you're going to get hung up on a number go get your body fat tested and try to lower that! Focus on keeping the same LBW and dropping fat only.

That's the last I'll touch on my thoughts and low calories...I do respect the fact you guys are trying to better your bodies. Seriously I wish more people took on that effort and were as serious as you all. I just can't see the situation from your point of view.

We are all entitled to our own opinions on how we should do things but at least say why you think what people are doing things wrong or add something from your own experience at least.

Ok I'm confused. I just did 35 mins on the bike. Started out at level 8, 10 mins in I went up to level 10, 20 mins in went to level 11, and the last 5 minutes the "cool down phase" I went back to level 8 and my total calories was 275. I averaged between 80-90 RPM's.

This is 100 more than my usual total so I'm happy with that but it is still far lower then some of you guys. Does it have to do with my age and weight?I'm 21 and 163 lbs.

Honestly you guys can't truly gauge your calories based on what the bike says. There are way too many variables involved!
