Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Had a terrible (eating and drinking) weekend staying @ my girlfriend's parents' house. I'm afraid to even weigh-in. I'm afraid I'm back to about 220 AT LEAST. Jesus, I gotta get back on it HARDCORE tomorrow. My girlfriend sucks. I can't eat good even when I try
I'm so weakComment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
See Sting you are putting that "average cals being low despite big blow outs" theory to the test.
Looks like you are going something like this:
Mon: 600 cals
Tues: 800 cals
Wed: 700 cals
Thurs: 900 cals
Fri: 800 cals
Sat: 4500 cals
Sun: 4000 cals
Average of over 1650 cals per day. If those numbers are roughly correct you should still be losing weight overall but just with big peaks and valleys.
I kinda had a slip up on saturday night myself but i knew it was coming. It was a bucks night for my future brother in law so it was bbq, LOTS of beer and 4 hot strippers.Comment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I think I did excellent this weekend. I had about 2500 calories Friday with beer and food, Saturday I didn't get pizza but had some beef stroganoff with mushrooms and ended the day at about 1300 calories and yesterday I attempted to fast but ended up I did have a salad and some mushrooms out of the beef stroganoff so I ended at about 500 calories for the day.
Also, on both Saturday and Sunday I spent nearly 2 hours walking my dog each day, probably did several miles each time. I weighed in this morning at 5 pounds less than my last Monday weigh-in but the results won't truly be known until I weigh-in tonight at the fat club.
For breakfast just now I had a whole wheat tortilla filled with two eggs, mushrooms, some 1% milk, salsa and lowfat cheese. I also ate a slice of roast beef deli meat while I waited on that to cook so I'm sitting at about 350 calories right now.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I can pretty much guarantee that if you guys taking in sugar, you will lose weight.
From my schooling, and the studies/experiments/research I've looked at, I truly believe that is the reason we are fat.Comment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Hey guys... I just was curious as to what was talked about on this forum. Being a college student I gained about 10-15 lbs my first year in school, so as I was already slightly overweight, I decided I was going to lose some weight. Over the next year I dropped from 225 lbs (aboout 22% bodyfat) down to 175 (now 172, with only 9% bodyfat, but I don't pay attention to the scale anymore, to me it's all about how you look... I am just doing a small cutting cycle to look cut for summer.)
I don't know what your goals are and I don't mean to criticize and am only trying to help, but the way you are eating is very, very, unhealthy. Consuming less than 1000 calories a day is dangerous. Even if you have that cheat day in there at the end of the week. When I think of a low-calorie diet for a male I'd say to never go below 1500, maybe 1200 at the absolute minimum calories a day if you don't exercise. Depending on your exercise level you should only be cutting 1000 calories a day under your maintenance level. For me maintenance level is about 3000 calories a day (I workout daily). So when I am cutting, I eat somewhere between 2000-2200 cals a day, and normally have a cheat day on Sunday where I consume around 3500 calories. But when you are eating as few calories as you guys say, all the weight you are losing is muscle weight, therefore once you get down to where you thought you wanted to get to, you still will not look the way you wanted to. You will be skinny-fat (you don't weigh alot, but still have a high body-fat percentage which poses possible health problems). When I lost my first 25-30 pounds I was eating like you guys, eating 1000-1500 calories a day, and just sitting around alot as I would not have much energy to really do much. When I got down under 200 lbs, I still did not like the way I looked at all. So, I found out that the weight I was losing was muscle weight, and although some of it was fat, a lot was muscle. I began to eat more than I had been, while doing cardio and resistance training, and now I think I look great (extremely close to that 6-pack I wanted, can see 4 abs right now, starting to see the last 2, hence the small cutting cycle I am doing for summer.)
But I cannot imagine anyone only eating 600 cals a day. Are you sure you are not underestimating your calorie intake, do you measure out everything you eat? What are you eating in a day (and how much of everything)? Do you exercise at all?
I personally think that you are going about your weight loss in the wrong way. I feel like I could help.Last edited by CC; 04-12-2010, 09:11 AM.Comment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I have discussed this with my doctor who read my food log for two months. I'm on a 1500 calories per day plan. However, my doctor and I both agreed that because of how food is labeled, how some foods are unknown and it's a guessing game, because of math errors and sheer forgetfullness, I am shooting for 1200 calories a day and probably actually falling into the 1400-1500 range.
I am doing both cardio and strength training 5 times a week (well weights I do twice a week right now) for about 45 minutes per day. I fast one day a week, although in my experience my fasting has usually been not 100%, I usually end up eating a small snack or meal and intake about 400 calories on that day. I know some folks think fasting is bad but I disagree. Not only has it been scientifically proven to help prolong life but it also allows you to assume control over your food and the psychological boost it gives is huge. I do allow myself one day a week for more relaxed eating and one cheat meal (I usually get a pizza and/or wings) although this week I didn't get any carry out food. I also have eliminated most all soda and I hardly ever eat fast food anymore either.
So while I respect your belief that I may be harming myself, I can assure you that I am not. I have researched this extensively and consulted with two doctors and the plan that I'm on is the one that I should be on. Also, one thing to keep in mind, caloric intake is not a static and set amount for everyone. Some folks have a higher metabolism and can burn more calories and others are the opposite. My older sister for one is skinny as a rail and regularly eats 3,000 calories a day. If I ate like her i'd be the size of a house. I have a slow metabolism and therefor must adjust my calories accordingly.
For instance - almost all diet sites i've visited have said I should eat 2,400 calories a day to lose weight. That's a joke. If I ate 2,400 calories a day it'd take 6 hours of exercising to have any prayer of losing weight at the end of the week. So each person has to find the caloric intake and exercise output that works for them I believe.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Ok... I just was worried when 6-7 days you ate less 1000 calories. Congrats on your weight loss and good luck the rest of the way.
Edit: and again... I did not know what your height, weight, metabolic rate, exercise level, etc. was so i guess I shouldn't have judged, just had to guess.Last edited by CC; 04-12-2010, 09:38 AM.Comment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I think you have me confused with Sting, he's doing less than a 1000 a day on some days, I'm always ending up about 1100-1300 myself. But if you read back in this thread Sting explains what he's doing. I think that's why he didn't reply to your post because he's feeling a little bit like a parrot by re-saying it constantly, heh.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
