Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
I'd be interested to see what kinds of bikes you guys are using... because when I work out I can average a good 100 calories every 6 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical (so easily 500 calories in a half hour), but when I hit the bike that number goes way down
i usually run on 12-14 resistance (although dif machines would have dif scales, so take that for what its worth), at an average of around 80 rpms...
idk, I always work up a really good sweat on the bike, and can feel the burn in my legs, but the rate I burn calories is drastically lower than the other machinesComment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
The bike I use has levels of resistance, I put it on level 8 with the fat burner workout, and pedal away. I don't have the stamina to be a madman, so I generally try to do about 50 RPM throughout the whole time. Once I start thinking that's a breeze, I'll up my RPM. But my heart rate got to something absurd like 168 today, and I'm sure that's either A) not recommended or B) not good.
for someone in there 20's, it's probably higher than the "optimal fat burning zone", but it is a perfectly reasonable heart rate for a high intensity workoutComment

The only thing I can think of is upping my level. I will try that tomorrow morning and come back with my results.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
My diet isn't for everybody, I know that...but it's not about the DIET. It's about the amount of calories being consume and pushing the body.
In my opinion, people are too hung up on what the scale says. If you're going to get hung up on a number go get your body fat tested and try to lower that! Focus on keeping the same LBW and dropping fat only.
That's the last I'll touch on my thoughts and low calories...I do respect the fact you guys are trying to better your bodies. Seriously I wish more people took on that effort and were as serious as you all. I just can't see the situation from your point of view.Last edited by Guest; 04-10-2010, 01:45 AM.Comment

It's all good if he disagree's but don't just do a drive by sweeping generalization insulting everyone in the thread and leave.
We are all entitled to our own opinions on how we should do things but at least say why you think what people are doing things wrong or add something from your own experience at least.Comment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Ok I'm confused. I just did 35 mins on the bike. Started out at level 8, 10 mins in I went up to level 10, 20 mins in went to level 11, and the last 5 minutes the "cool down phase" I went back to level 8 and my total calories was 275. I averaged between 80-90 RPM's.
This is 100 more than my usual total so I'm happy with that but it is still far lower then some of you guys. Does it have to do with my age and weight?I'm 21 and 163 lbs.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in
Honestly you guys can't truly gauge your calories based on what the bike says. There are way too many variables involved!
Just my .02
On a side note...the ECA stack is incredible FOR ME. I'm the closest I've ever been to a six pack...I'm feeling confident it's going to be here within a couple weeks!
As some motivation...the girl is absolutely loving my leaner look!Comment
