Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I had a good dinner last night of a chicken deli meat wrap with red onions, tomatoes, and miracle whip light. So about 200 calories total, finished out the day about 1300 calories.

This morning I had weight control maple brown sugar oatmeal with 4 diced up strawberries for about 220 calories.

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I play basketball when I have a chance. I guess I carry my weight well, last game I played I burned by 2 different guys for layups even tho I'm over 300 right now..The reaction after that is kind of funny. Just because I'm fat doesn't mean I can't move, it means I can't jump and that is why there is a thing called a pump fake.

2 points so far today with some oatmeal this AM. Going to have another serving right now. (Forgot my delicious slim fast at home.. :/)

I sent this email to a friend and thought i'd share with you all.

"As for the crock pot there are a lot of great ways to prepare good meals in them that are not bad or in many cases quite decently healthy meals. The crock pot is great, throw some stuff in and when you get off work dinner is ready to go. Here’s a few of my go to meals:

          1. large pot of sauerkraut with onions and a few pork ribs thrown in for flavoring
          2. get a small ham, cut off the fat, throw it in and let it cook for hours, then throw in some frozen vegetables at the end
          3. how about just get a head of cabbage, chop it up, throw it in there with some red onions, potatoes (add those in the last 2 hours or they brown) and if you want, some corned beef
          4. chicken breasts with some onions, bathed in low sodium chicken broth and potatoes make a good soup like dinner. Maybe add some wheat noodles if you’re ok with the carbs.
          5. chili: lots of tomatoes, some chilies, some diced red, yellow & green peppers, large and small mushrooms, various beans (the more the better). If you want meat add ground turkey.
          6. tomato soup – get a large can of tomato sauce, add some vegetables and if you desire meat, dice up some ham or lean chicken and throw it in "

Here might be some motivation for some of you You ALL can do this with hard work and no gimmicks

Joshuatree2192 - thanks man. I lost about 110+ lbs and I started going to the gym watching what I ate November 19, 2008 to present.

Hyper Cutter - I lost the first 50 lbs in 3 months just doing cardio 45min - 1hour everyday of the week. And I noticed I was going to the skinny fat direction with no muscle from what I read online (Men's Health forums). Then I lost another 30-40 lbs following this diet plan a trainer in my gym gave me. He wanted me to do circuit training with light weights until I stopped training with him and tried lifting heavy doing the main 3 compound lifts. I lost another 20 or less lbs doing that and following my own diet of 1500-1600 calories (from reading stuff on bb.com). For some reason I can see my abs now kind of compared to December where I couldn't see my abs and weighed the same weight. I've been !#!$$!% up on my diet like going good for 2 weeks then do bad for 3 days and then back to my diet again for the past couple of months. But I really plan on sticking to it now because my birthday is coming up.

What weights did you use? I'm slowly moving up with my weights so I don't injure myself. Even with the Core Synergistic workout, I take my time. That one reminds me of my wrestling days with just a good solid workout.

I stopped going to the gym this week because I know the two mixed together would make me go to sleep, literally.

I would think that the longer you fast the more muscle you would lose, but I'm almost certain that you're body burns away it's fat stores first. I'm pretty sure this is where the "clean energy" comes from. I also don't encourage anyone to fast aside from spiritual reasons unless you consult a doctor first. You're also right about gaining weight back quickly, but it's much less dramatic if you watch what you eat after the fast. If a person keeps the self-control they used during the fast to eat smaller portions and more healthy food, it's much easier to keep the weight gain at a lower rate.

That being said, today is the last day. Haven't decided if I'll eat tonight after work or tomorrow morning. Probably tonight. Next week, it's back to the regular diet of the usual and riding the recumbent bike 5 days a week. Will probably have mostly fresh fruit/veggies and some lean meat/nuts for my first meal because if I eat fatty/fried/processed/fast food, I know what it'll do to my stomach.
Ah ok. Didn't know you were doing it for religious reasons.

Even if I tried fasting, I wouldn't last long. I have horrible will power. lol.

DC good job man, that's impressive, I think I'm probably on par with your situation.

                        My wacky lunch today was:

                        Arnold Whole Wheat Sandwich Thin
1 oz Cheese (Cooper = BAD but I'm not wasting it)
                        3 oz Grilled Cheese
                        3 oz Roasted Turkey

I need to veg up tonight

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

My pizza is the small 8" premade ones. I usually get Boboli or Mama Mary's and for an entire mini-pizza it's about 380 calories. The Mama Mary's is much better IMO, it comes out crisp whereas the Bobolis is ok but is more traditional pizza tasting. However the Mama Mary's has a good bit more fat content (which is odd because it seems thinner).

The sauce I use is the lowest calorie sauce that I believe Krogers makes, at about 40 calories a tablespoon. The cheese is 1% mozzarella usually, or if I can't find that then the lowfat 2% mozzarella. I never get the pizza cheeses as it's much higher in fat. I tried non-fat cheese, like the weight watchers and it's crap. So avoid it. It's better to get 1 or 2% regular cheese and just don't pile it on. I usually put just a real light layer on, then cook it, then put just a little more on after it comes out, it gives you the taste of extra cheese without having very much actual cheese on the pizza (this is a trick I learned from a guy who I know that runs a pizza shop. It makes the pizza taste much better and saves him money on cheese).

As for what else, I always try to add as many vegetables as I can. If you want meat ground turkey is great or else use ham (or chicken if you like but I don't ever do that because I eat so much chicken anyways). I go a bit heavy on the sauce since it's tomatoes and anti-oxidants and all that jazz, plus I think a sloppier pizza makes it taste more like pizza you get from Papa Johns.

Oh yeah and I'd recommend you add a dash of oregano and parmesan cheese and/or garlic powder on the sauce directly before adding any of your toppings. I would especially recommend the parmesan cheese if you plan to go really light on your regular cheese as it will give you that cheesy taste for a minimum amount of calories beacuse it soaks into the sauce. The oregano is crucial to giving you that pizza flavoring. Garlic powder is dependent upon preference but I love garlic so I add it. It'd probably be healthier to just add some actual garlic but honestly I just add a dash of the powder and I'm done, it's easier than messing with real garlic for me.

Oh and one last thing - before you add ANYTHING to the crust put a light coating of extra virgin olive oil on the pizza. It helps the crust cook better and gives the crust a better taste (more like delivered pizza).

About a month ago I got a Mama Mary's mini-crust pizza and just made it with turkey pepperoni, mushrooms and cheese. I swear it was one of the best pizzas i've eaten in years, no joke, delivery and restaurant included.

Today I had fast food for the first time since February! I got my teeth cleaned and when I was done I was hungry. So I headed for KFC for the double down. Ok, j/k. I headed there but didn't get the double down. Instead I got:

                            2 Grilled Chicken Breasts (360) w/hot sauce (10)
                            Green beans (60)
                            Corn (80)
                            TOTAL of 510 calories.

Oh and yes I drank a Diet Pepsi. YOU'RE D***ED RIGHT I DID AND I'D DO IT AGAIN IF I HAD THE CHANCE!!!!!! :P

                              that's great to hear Sting!

Oh and I forgot some good news too. I weighed in today at the gym for our contest and I'm down 2 pounds from 259 to 257!

I may have a bad weekend ahead myself. Tomorrow I'm going out with my friend for his birthday and we'll be out all night. Then Saturday my buddy is probably coming over for some german beer, pizza and PS3.

I'm not going to stress though, neither should you. Just so every weekend isn't a bad weekend, the occasional splurge is part of life. So long as the overall big picture is consistent loss then an occasional blip shouldn't be cause for despair.
