Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Hey all, i've not fallen off the wagon or anything, just busy day here today.

I had Mcdonalds Egg mcMuffin for lunch (took everything I had not to order a sausage mcmuffin), a grapefruit and then snacked on 2 pieces of string cheese.

For lunch I had a half of a roast beef, pastrami sandwich with a side of some carrot sticks and button mushrooms.

I saw the doctor today and my official weight is 254.2 which is fantastic IMO...right back to where I've been trying to get to for a long time now, the 250 mark (and thanks all for the kudos on briefly going under that!). My last visit to him was June 16, 2009 and I weighed in 277 at that visit, so that's a 23 pound loss.

My sugar was 105 this morning, should have been 100 to be "perfect" but I am good with 105. I'll find out by the end of the week what my cholesterol is as they did a blood draw this morning.

The doctor was very impressed! Isn't it great going to the doctor and not having to worry about disappointing him or her with your weight and fitness? I remember I used to hate going when I was over 300, I was so afraid I'd hear I had some new issue or problem when I got blood drawn.

And now...i'm off to the gym, then off to fat club for our weekly meeting. Laterz fellas!

oh and that should say I had a mcmuffin for breakfast....i stopped off after the doctors office at 10am starving (after fasting) so that was, in my mind, almost a lunch right there with it being so far past breakfast, which I usually eat about 7:30-8am.

              Nice work!

I stayed at my mark of 351.6 (Was hoping to get under 350 today) but I'm still down from 360 really (I wieghed myself in walmart before buying the scale)

Nice breakfast, I never thought of just having an egg mcmuffin. Although, I could probably just buy whole wheat thomas muffins and some eggs and make a better one than McD's can. Maybe even buy some turkey breakfast sausage for my Sunday breakfast. (Replacement McDonalds breakfast)

Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

Yeah usually it's always better to make your stuff at home, but the stats on the egg mcmuffin are pretty good actually overall. Men's health recommends it. My difficulty is not getting two sausage mcmuffins or adding in a breakfast burrito or a chicken biscuit or something. In general I find McDonalds breakfast much better than the rest of their food.

If in doubt of being able to contain myself I usually simply avoid the place. It's why I don't go to Burger King for lunch hardly ever as I love their Whopper. I have been known to go and get a Whopper Jr. without Mayo though if I have a craving.

Sometimes if you have a particular craving and you know it'll just linger it's better to kill it in a controlled setting (ie drink some water, go get whatever it is when you're not famished, order it and take it with you, don't stay at the restaurant where you're tempted to go back up and order more, etc).

Oh and congrats on getting down by 9 pounds! That's a great job. It's more difficult when you're heavier to exercise and eat better I have found but sometimes you can put up better numbers when you can stick to your routine so it can be rewarding.

I am all about setting mini-goals. Like when I was 305-310 my goal was just to get to 275. Now I'm 254 and my goal is to get below, and stay below, the 250 mark. Then I think probably I'll set my goal on the 220 mark, which is what my doctor wants me to get to. It helps psychologically to think in small chunks I think, at least it does me.

Feeling good today. There is a lot of talk about the P90x program and how people hype it up etc. I'm taking it in doses and really like it. It really works out all of your muscles. You feel it and you see it.

I may have to pick up a scale this weekend to see where I'm at. I haven't been weighed sinc emy last physical in Nov. 2009. I'm thinking I'm around 215..maybe.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I basically have mini-goals set at 20 pounds a piece, then a big one at 299 to get under 300. That would be 60 pounds. Hopefully I can be down 20 by the end of the month (four weeks, not April), I've done it before. Seems like if I stick to this kind of thing at first it falls off and then it gets harder and harder. We'll see, but I'm in for the long haul. I have a kid now, I have to be a good role model and want to be around as long as I can for him.

Yummy, just had two servings of strawberry and cream oatmeal for breakfast.

Odogg- Weigh yourself on the scale at the same time each day.

                        Personally I'm on a mini-DL

I do, I weigh in every morning at 7:45am. However I take part in two weekly contests so I also use two other scales at two different times of day. Every Thursday we have a gym contest and weigh in at 2pm. And every Monday we have fat club and weigh in at 6:45pm.

I have found that swimming burns the mostly calories for me(500-1000) calories and hour without taxing my body.

Usually local highschools let you swim for free. I go at 5-6am and I have to pool to myself.

my doctor said swimming is the best exercise one can do. I'm just kind of weird about swimming with how i'm overweight and wear a t-shirt and even that is kind of strange in itself.

Can't wait til my house gets finished later this year. Having a pool will be awesome so i can jump in and swim laps whenever i want.

I had a terrible weekend eating and drinking wise. It was a long weekend here in Australia so i indulged in too much alcohol and way too much food. I didn't eat anything too unhealthy but just big amounts and shot well over my 2k per day cal limit. This broken toe is still pissing me off, it's restricting my cardio big time. I put on 2kg over the weekend (4.4lbs).

I tend to be an all or nothing type of personality. If i'm going to be "healthy" i workout everyday and eat flawlessly. When my mind changes to "unhealthy mode" i go all out there as well and do no exercise and eat/drink like a pig. I need to find more of a middle ground......
