Re: Weight Loss - Tips & Daily Check-in

I'm having a sweet and salty almond bar.

I hit my one week goal of being under 350. My official weekly weigh in came in at 349.4, down from around 360 two weeks ago. Maybe next week I can hit 345..

Yeah man, the goals are great to have, manageable ones. I'm hovering now around, and often below, the 250 mark which is huge for me!

I ate an excess of cals yesterday and I only went up to 213

I think I'm gonna be under 210 for the first time in over a year...soon

I'm stable at 175 (was around 187 to just below 190 at the beginning of the year), so I'm happy. Just changing my diet and only doing diet pop were good enough. I didn't realize how much those fast food lunches were adding to my calories.

Next up is working out more to start adding muscle/definition, but need to come up with a good plan and motivation for that. I really don't enjoy working out (but love playing sports) so tough to drag myself to the gym.

Once you start getting into it you'll feel bad when you don't go, seriously.

Yeah, I want to go a bit slow, there's a workout place at my complex so just start benching, doing lat pull downs and that type of stuff they have. Maybe if I can get used to that I can work my way up to a P90x type thing. That would kick my *** right now and I doubt I'd make it a week (being brutally honest, I can be lazy sometimes).

I know how I am, but am trying to change it...think the slow approach will make it more likely to stick, but we'll see.

Fiance and I went to the gym for an hour. I told her she is going to have to figure out her goals and her own workout because she won't want to do mine.

So basically, I only got to do one of the things from my workout (lunges) - and then after that incorporated some shoulder work and ab work - then run for 10 mins (she walked).

I'm not going to tell her what workouts to do because she rarely listens, so stubborn - so hopefully she figures it out so I can get on track.

Eitherway, I feel great - and using fitday.com to keep track of everything helps.

mgoblue-first of all make a commitment to 3 times a week for 15-20 minutes a day and just get into the habit of going. Don't worry too much about what you actually do there until you've been going for a while. If you go in there and overwork yourself and spend too much time you will probably quit going. So just go and take it easier but develop the habit of going is all.

Yeah, that's my goal. I know how I am, so if I can do that then I can ramp it up over time. I don't mind being sore and whatnot, I just don't enjoy lifting much, so have to fake myself into enjoying it by the slow but steady method haha

Quoted to say "So true" but Dave beat me to it. I started lifting weights 3x a week in mid Feb and last week I took my first break, a rest week since I was feeling a bit drained mentally (went from working with an empty barbell to squatting 230lbs). By mid week I was feeling guilty.

I will say that you have to find a way to make working out fun. Experiment or try out a program and see where it goes.

I was 6'1 225. College started kicking my ***. Around the end of Feb. I started eating less (I was def over eating) and getting back into my lifting and soccer. I am down to 209 now and I feel great. I have always been a fairly well built guy, so 209 looks pretty good on me.

I noticed a lot of you guys trying to do the low cal thing. I know it has been harped on and if you dont want to hear anything about it stop reading here:

I had a friend who tried that and screwed his metabolism up pretty fierce. Eventually he just couldn't lose weight and his exercising didn't seem to be effective. Once he started taking in a more normal amount of calories he went up near his older weight. Not trying to sway you guys, just another experience I knew of.

I would say to throw out your scales. It's about how you look, not what you weigh. Going to the gym and doing weight training is so crucial along with just generally being active. I try to eat healthy, stick to grilled chicken when I can, I dont salt things, try to not use sauces when at all possible; and it seems to be working. I really haven't done anything too drastic, just trying to monitor my intakes a little better. Hopefully the trend continues.

Oh yeah, and **** light beer. Miller High life FTW.
