Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
I would've given her the seat and just let it go. I've had 4 operations on my knees and it hurts me to stand still for long periods of time where I can't walk around, but I would just suck it up and let her sit down. Not a big deal. Sometimes you just have to be the bigger person even when you don't get credit for it from others. I'm not saying what the OP did was wrong, I'm just saying this last part in general for all situations.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
I feel you but if you take the train everyday you might have a different outlook. I have taken the train for the past 14 years between atl, nyc and beantown. Working all day and dealing with delays sometimes you don't want to give up your seat to someone that is trying to game you.PSN: Koolie_G

Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
I lived in Boston, Atlanta, and NYC (Brooklyn) and NYC is clearly the most crowded. I visited DC for business and the metro during rush hour is a beast also but few things compare to the tightness and smell of NYC subways.
I wouldn't have given her my seat. I am few months from 40th birthday and unlesss someone is pregnant, disabled, or the elderly they can stand.
Peace

If I get a seat on a crowded train when I'm really tired I just close my eyes.Comment

Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
fact is shes a LIAR.
I wouldnt have given my seat up to a Liar either.
she can run that game on someone else.
Its like homeless people on the street...one time they have a sign that says, "war vet, starving hungry please anythign helps"...you throw them some loose change..
then the next day they have a sign that says they have some sort of disease and need money for the doctor...when odds are they are looking for money for drugs...
People get once chance to prove themselves...woman or not...a liar is a liar and liars get no respect.#SimnationComment

Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
Switch roles next time. Try and game them out of their seat. But do it Wyatt Earp style.
Stare down the old woman.
Woman: Somethin' on your mind?
DC: Just wanted to let you know you're sitting in my chair.
Woman: That a fact?
DC: Yeah. It's a fact.

DC: Go ahead. Skin it. Skin that Smoke wagon and see what happens.</pre></pre>

I'd have given her the seat. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
Well my take on this is I am a 35 year old man in good health.
I always give my seat up on the bus if it is full to any women or even an ederly man.
I dont know it is just the way I was raised.
It doesnt bother me at all to give my seat up.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
I usually prefer standing, so I'd have no problem giving up a seat. I didn't catch the length of the bus rides. If the rides were over 45 minutes, I'd probably reconsider my answer... but then again I should probably let an old lady sit, even if she's morally weak. I'm 23 and can handle being on my feet for some time.
I'd never give anything to a homeless person. Yes.. I said it in absolutes and meant it in absolutes.Xbox Live Gamertag: CreatineKasey

Re: Something I Have Been Experiencing On The Subway
A few weeks ago I was sitting on the train and this older (40-50) year old woman asked me to sit down because her knee was bothering her. So I got up and let her sit down. No biggie.
2 days later, the SAME woman gets on the train and asks me to sit down. She is dizzy this time. Since I remembered her face and knew she had pre-existing injuries with her knee:
Me: My knee is bothering me
Her: Well I hope I don't fall on it
Me: Yea I know that won't happen.
An older woman behind me gave up her seat for this woman. I guess I might have been viewed as a jerk.
Yesterday, I saw her get someone else. Another young male gets the treatment. I wonder what her excuse was this time. But he gave the seat up.
What are your thoughts on this? I personally think she is just abusing the "rule" that we are supposed to give our seats up for them. I am sure it shocked her when I didn't get up. If I thought she was serious I wouldn't have an issue but I am pretty sure she finds a way to do this every single day.
