I would have made her stand......growing up in Chicago riding mass transis most of my life, I seen that game played by females of all ages for years. Everyday they will come up with a guilt trip line. But I bet you if you gave her a $100 she would have went to the casino or something with it and would have been completely healed, not showing any signs of her so called previous conditions.

As someone else said, my mother has fibromyalgia as well and this woman may very well have it as well. My mother can have knee pains one day, neck pains the next, dizziness/fatigue the following day.

Gotta love people jumping to conclusions. "She's a liar! She's running a game!" Maybe she was telling the truth, maybe she wasn't. I would have no problem giving up my seat for an older person, male or female, if they tell me they're in pain or not feeling well. And this is coming from someone from Massachusetts who has ridden the T many times.

I'd have given up my seat. Right now, I'm battling problems with my right calf muscle and a broken foot. Before breaking my foot, I was able to get by with only a slight limp and was able to stand up for a short period of time before my calf really started to hurt me. I would be able to walk for a distance, but after that time my leg would be KILLING me. On the outside, you wouldn't be able to tell, but if I was to be standing up for a length of time and unable to move the pain would become debilitating.

Right now, I have multiple fractures in my right foot. My leg muscles and the structures in my foot have completely atrophied. Although the bones themselves are well on their way to healing, there is absolutely no muscle strength in that leg. Once the walking boot is off and I start walking in my normal shoes, I'm going to be completely exhausted and very unstable until the muscles grow back and strengthen.

As stated by others here, there are many conditions and very debilitating conditions out there that don't always show themselves at first glance. To make a baseless assumption about that is just as rude as it is for a perfectly healthy person to lie in order to take someone's seat.

Dude, she's a woman. Be a gentleman and offer your seat to her. She doesn't need a reason, she's a woman and you're a man.





Truth be told, she shouldn't have to ask you in the first place.

so instead, we should assume that any woman who asks to take our seat is in pain and we should give up our seat regardless. Bull****. im not giving up a seat unless i see you are 60+ and own a walker or a cane.

if your in that much pain u shouldnt be on a crowded bus anyway knowing there is a good chance you will have to stand up. and dont tell me she didnt look through the windows to see how full the bus is before she stepped on. in that case call u a cab/taxi.

Women have been fighting for years for to be treated like Men. But they still want the benefits of being the "woman" in these situations. Regardless, I still give up my seat for any woman or elderly person. It's just the way I was raised.

I wouldn't give my seat up to ANYONE, man or woman. I don't care. Maybe in some cases I would(elderly or if someone blatantly has a knee problem and whatever where they have to sit down). Otherwise, no. Deal with standing. I got there first. Sorry.

Absolutely. I would give my seat up to anyone that needed it honestly...I'm young, I'm healthy...I can stand. When I get on the train or the subway, I never even take a seat unless no one else is on.

Yea I'm keeping my seat. Unless your elderly and look like you really should be seating. I want to sit down as much as the next person otherwise I wouldn't have sat down at all.

That's it right there. I'm young and despite some knee discomfort from playing soccer most of my life, I'm healthy enough to stand up on any train ride that I may be taking. If someone asks me for my seat and it appears like they needed it, or they tell me that the need it, I'm fine with giving it up.

I'm actually sad that so many people have such a...negative...attitude about this. It's not a big enough deal, in my mind, to even worry about. But hey, you manly-men keep on keepin' on whatever way works for you guys. I was just raised a lot differently than some, it seems.

Yeah, I'd give up my seat to anyone that asks. I figure that they are aware that asking is a sign of weakness so they generally need the seat. It looks kind of weak in my eyes to NOT give up the seat. To me it comes off as taking the "high road" when you just get up and tough it out. Now, I've rode a campus bus for years, but I'm sure that's far different than a subway/city bus. If I saw the same people lying on a daily basis I'd probably react differently, but I'm guessing most would.

See, on the flip side I'd NEVER ask for a seat unless I was seriously injured or something. It's a sign of weakness to ask for that, especially as a man.

If it's isolated incidents, I'll do what I see as the right thing and let them cope with being a shady person.
