What makes Nascar fun to watch in any setting? Even if you're there for your favorite driver, you'll just be staring at him going around a track for hours. Unless there's a crash it's not like anything is going to change, the people will still be going in a circle.

What's fun about watching a bunch of guys run around trying to put a ball into a hoop? I like basketball a lot, so I do agree that watching a bunch of guys running around trying to put a ball into a hoop is fun, but I don't see how watching a bunch of guys trying to race a car around a track is any dumber. They both take immense skill to compete at a high level and I enjoy watching the finer aspects of both.

Re Rugby:

I like the international competitions when I can catch them but I can't watch the aussie rules stuff. It seems some of the rules are a little different for the domestic leagues which make it harder for me to understand what's going on. I watched the last rugby world cup though and that was entertaining as hell.

Re Boxing:

I don't think the "it doesn't translate well to TV" argument really works as the sport was extremely entertaining back in the '70s and '80s. I think the problem nowadays is that apart from maybe 10 guys you have no clue who's good and who isn't and then the actual boxing just doesn't seem as exciting. A lot of guys in the game today have very similar fighting styles.

I always find it funny when people complain about there being too many games in the NBA but try to justify baseball. I'm a huge boxing fan that just can't get into MMA. Out of all of the sporting events I've been to nothing can compare to the adrenaline rush you get during the entrances of a title fight. The entire place is electric.

Because it takes 3 hours to preview it when 90% of the time randomly picking a horse is more accurate than the previews.

Handicapping horse races has to be the most lucrative career among degenerates.

Because you suck at betting on it and lose lots of money? That said I can't call an event where a midget rides a horse in a circle a sport. At least no more so than I can call playing the lottery a sport.

Soccer I'm not a huge fan of but I can occasionally stomach a game. College football, basketball, and baseball I can watch at any time. Hockey I can respect, but I don't like watching it on TV. Oh, and rugby is pretty badass.
