A Virginia man faces charges of misdemeanor animal cruelty and disorderly conduct after allegedly hurling his girlfriend's kitten against the wall after it disconnected the video game he was playing.

Staunton, Virginia authorities were called to the apartment of 21-year-old Bruce Jamar Walston by his girlfriend around 9pm last night. The woman called 911 after Walston, angered that the video game he was playing was disconnected by his girlfriend's new kitten, allegedly picked up the animal and threw it against the wall, killing it.


According to authorities, the incident occurred in front of the woman's children.


Walston is being held without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail in Verona. Prior to this incident he was out on bond in relation to a January breaking and entering charge.

I know the original article refers to him as a "man" but I just don't have the heart to afford this scumbag the same luxury. How about they have a giant bodybuilder throw him headfirst against a wall a few times as punishment?

I know this is going to sound really odd but thank god this happened.

Hopefully, this guy won't just have to do some community service or days in jail. With his prior, its seems apparent that he is in need of some serious help. Prior breaking and entering + anger issues + willingness to kill something over nothing spells someone who would be AT THE LEAST an abusive/awful father and at most something like a murderer.

I just hope the court doesn't give him a light sentence. Really pin this guy down and check his mind out.

Why do people have cords that animals can access anyway ? My better half has a dog and I hide all my game cords behind the entertainment unti so he can't get to them. My console sits 5 ft off the ground on the top shelf of the entertainment unit, I keep all my games inside of the unit near the top behind a glass door, when I am done playing my game, I put my controller on the top of the unit.

That is all people have to do. Put stuff high and out of the reach of animals. Sure the dog will come sniff the controller when he sees it in my hand when I am playing and I give him a stern NO and he moves away going about his business.

It is Beyond me why Animal Cruelty charges are so lenient. 95% of people who commit a violent act against an Animal do the same to a person. Anytime someone purposely kills an animal(not counting hunting) it should be a Felony.

This is sad. Wow. Unspeakable. The guy clearly has massive anger issues and other mental problems. My dog frequently disconnects the cord to my controller simply by walking/stumbling over it and what do I do? Call her a klutz or some other name jokingly and connect the cord back to my controller and continue on with my game. I would never think about hurting her over something so ****ing stupid like that, let alone picking her up and throwing her into a wall. What a POS that guy is.

I agree with him, what source do you need. It is common sense. It someone would go to the extent of killing a helpless animal (I am not talking hunting). I would agree most would have little regard to life in general. We are not different than a big *** animal and if someone will kill a little ol helpless kitten with no heart, they would have no problem hurting a person. Only thing stopping them would be jail time and if the same would be true for a animal maybe it would stop that also.

I don't know about 95%, but yeah I'm sure the majority of people who commit animal cruelty crimes also have a history of abuse towards people as well(or will later in their life which is why we need to crack down on these scumbags a lot harder). Typically people start small and work their way up. This guy just killed a cat over a video game. I hope the courts go hard at him and give him a very harsh punishment along with some sort of mental evaluation, otherwise he'll likely move onto abusing people and possibly killing them too.

Well, the way I see it, a lot of people will make up numbers off the top of their head to back up opinions. It's nothing personal, and, while I was skeptical of the initial number you posted, I knew I didn't know enough about the topic to figure out whether the number was correct or not. I just assumed you had a source somewhere, and I was only trying to increase my knowledge on the subject.

By the way, I can't find any number linking animal abuse to human abuse higher than a correlation of 71%.

That is horrible. What a scumbag and nutcase. I agree animal cruelty laws need to be tougher, this scumbag should go away for a long time and instead he is going to get a slap on the wrist because the animal cruelty laws are so lenient. I wouldn't object if he got slammed into a wall face first 100 times as a punishment.

I honestly don't understand what the hell is wrong with some people. Killing an innocent kitten over a video game, unbelievable.

i would never harm any animal except for a tree rat, but no human should spend any length of time in jail for killing any animal.

Fine him alot of $$, but putting him in jail is rediculous.
