i would never harm any animal except for a tree rat, but no human should spend any length of time in jail for killing any animal.

Just about every expert agrees that if a person harms an animal, they are substantially more likely to do the same for a person. There is a reason why the FBI looks at animal abuse when conducting investigations on Serial Killers and rapists.

Someone that can kill or torture an animal has it in them to do the same to a person.

Uh, no . What exactly is the deterrent if the person get's a slap on the wrist for doing this kind of stuff? Not to mention people like this are more likely to harm a person, people can argue that all they want, but evidence/stats back that up.

What this guy did is disgusting, and this kind of thing deserves jail time plain and simple.

The only thing that is ridiculous is this guy not going to jail most likely.

I don't think it is 95% is quite accurate, but the number is still very high. Just look at how many serial killers started off killing/torturing animals.

The bottom line is somebody cruel enough to do that to an defenseless animal, probably wouldn't think twice about hurting a human being as well. It is just an overall indifference toward life in general.

Since this guy killed a kitten over a video game I don't doubt at all, that he would snapped and done something to person at some point as well.

And really the guy should go to jail, simply because anybody who is capable of this is a scumbag and nutcase, who I don't want on the streets, and contributes nothing positive to society at all.

This guy obviously has anger issues. What if his girlfriend's kid accidentally unplugged his game? Would he hit them or push them? Kudos to the girlfriend for doing what is right and calling the cops. Hopefully this guy can get the help he needs, before he hurts anything else besides a kitten.

That is horrible. What a scumbag and nutcase. I agree animal cruelty laws need to be tougher, this scumbag should go away for a long time and instead he is going to get a slap on the wrist because the animal cruelty laws are so lenient. I wouldn't object if he got slammed into a wall face first 100 times as a punishment.

Did I say I care more about animals than human beings anywhere in my post? Of course if it was a person the penalty should be exponentially more severe. I am sorry that is one of the biggest strawman arguments I have ever heard, when ever I hear people discuss this issue.

Saying I think the guy deserves to go jail, does not exclude me from saying that if he killed a person he should suffer a much harsher penalty including life in prison.

Why exactly do you want a scumbag like this walking the streets anyways? What does he positively contribute to society?

And sorry angry, doesn't quantify completely what this guy is. Alot of people, myself included get angry at times, but we don't hurl a cat against a wall as result. This guy is more than just angry, he is a nutcase.

So you're basically saying that if you owned a dog and he was outside in your yard and your neighbor came over and beat your dog to death just because your dog barked at him that he should only pay you and/or the courts a fine and not face criminal prosecution? Give me a break...

I don't know, killing a kitten is a bad thing. Sure it is not a human life, but it is life. But I kill spiders and I kill ants. I ****ing hate ants. I know it is a not a pet, but some people can't distinguish the two. My thing is if I guy would do this to a kitten I have no doubt he would have done this to a kid. I can see him not thinking when he did it, he was just mad and took it out on the animal. I am sure he would have thrown anything that did that too. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it. It could be where I work, I don't know. I am just not shocked anymore. I have kids as young as 13 in for commenting rape and murder. I am just not shocked anymore of what the human being is capable of.
