I don't know, killing a kitten is a bad thing. Sure it is not a human life, but it is life. But I kill spiders and I kill ants. I ****ing hate ants. I know it is a not a pet, but some people can't distinguish the two.

That's the thing. A lot of people preach for animal rights when, in reality, they only care about the rights of pets/cute animals (dogs, cats, etc.). If a bumble bee was flying around someone and it made the person screw up at their video game and he decided to swat the bee and kill it, would you be this outraged?

Aw come on man...you're trying to compare killing insects with throwing a kitten agianst the wall?

I understand you're trying to push the argument to a more "You kill cows to get beef and leather shoes so are they less alive? " kinda argument but you realy can't equate killing insects into this? What's next...decrying bleach for killing germs and bacteria?

True, but in other countries kittens are food. Maybe not kittens, but dogs and cats are. I still don't know how I feel about people that kill pets. My only thing is if a kid would have done this what would he have done. That is what is scary me. I still hope he serves some time though.

This guy sounds like even more of scumbag than he already is after reading those additional details about him assaulting people before. Honestly, get this incredible waste of humanity off the street for a little awhile.

This guy is a scumbag for doing what he did and like others have said, what would have happened if a kid had accidentally unplugged his console. Definitely has anger management issues and needs help.

The subject of ethical treatment of animals is really a sticky subject. We make some animals our close companions and treat them as little people yet have no qualms about eating other animals and killing off animals we view as pests or vermin. Even species we usually consider vermin aren't always vermin. If someone killed a rat that got into their house from outside somewhere, nobody would care yet if someone had a pet rat and another person killed it for no reason then it would be animal cruelty.

And to the person who remakred about trying to compare killing and insect to killing a kitten, there are people who think that even killing insects is wrong. I remember (and I'm sure many of you probably heard about this) one incident when President Obama was giving a speech and swatted a fly that landed on his podium. Supposedly PETA sent him a humane fly catcher a couple days later.

I also remember one incident from my junior year in college. I was a biology major and my advisor who I ultimately did my senior project with did his research on fruit fly genetics. Fruit fly larvae have structures beneath their cuticle (basically skin but made of chitin) called imaginal discs that develop into adult structures during pupation. In order to examine these structures, the larvae have to be cut in half and turned inside out (inverted), a process that is obviously fatal to the larva. Well, during that year there was a large poster that someone had hung on the wall of his lab and his students who were working on their senior projects that year wrote and drew a bunch of stuff on it. Someone had written the message "flies don't like to hurt so please don't invert". I don't know who wrote that or if they really felt that way or were simply joking around, but the point is some people really do care about even the smallest and most insignificant creatures.

Poor kitten. I would probably laugh if my pet unplugged a cable. The guy should learn from this lesson and get wireless for his console anyway (I'm guessing he had a 360?).

So you're basically saying that if you owned a dog and he was outside in your yard and your neighbor came over and beat your dog to death just because your dog barked at him that he should only pay you and/or the courts a fine and not face criminal prosecution? Give me a break...
