It is something that people who don't run can't understand..***nning is a special thing.

PS-My marathon is tomorrow! Going to be a little warm (70-83 degrees) but I think I will be able to get my 3:36 goal.

So I ran Sectionals last night and everything was perfect. I qualified for State in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, our 4x100 made it too and a bunch of other individuals on the team. To put icing on the cake we won the whole meet as a team and brought our school a Sectional Championship! This is one of the best feelings I've ever had!

Had to drop out of my marathon...It was in the 80's by 8 in the morning which doesn't go well when you train in 50 degree weather haha

Tough pill to swallow but I am happy with my decision. I knew if I kept going I probably would have had an ambulance ride in my near future...best to not get it that far.

Half way thru my marathon program so I was supposed to do a half today. I'm too lazy so I just made a homemade half marathon. Happy with my training (never done a real half before).

          Go Garmin!

Got back from State. Both relays sucked.. It happens. I personally had a great day even though we didn't make it past prelims. I'm so happy that I'm a junior and I might get a chance to go back again next year. I'm really going to remember all the fun times I had off the track with my teammates this season. Even though we didn't win I still believe we were the top team in the state this season and we're returning a lot of talent for next season

I have to give a plug to the new Reebok Play Dry (sleeveless) shirts. I tried to find a link on the Reebok site but I couldn't find anything.

I went running with this shirt and it didn't stick to my body and there was better ventilation compared to my other work out shirts. The material also feels thinner and lighter which is good because the weather is heating up.

Ended up running a 10K on Saturday and finished in 44:11 (7:07 Pace) 44/513 people.

Have another 10K this Saturday and will try to beat my time...Not sure that is going to work as the temperature is supposed to hit 90.

Nice job. That's a good pace to keep up for 6 miles.

I need to set my alarm the rest of this week if I want to get some running in, or wait until later at night. We're going to be around 90 all this week.

Hey guys, I need some advice. I haven't run since I got of the Army and needless to say the Army way isn't really the healthiest way to run. I qoit smoking about 4 years ago and have put on some weight , about 25 pounds more than I am comfortable with. I am 44 years old and not in great shape . Really want to get back into running and would like some help getting a good, safe and healthy beginning program to start running again.

Any advice or information would be great. I am not looking for hardcore training just want to be healthier and enjoy a run again.

I am no expert but I got first into running by training for something. It could be anything but I just needed a goal so that I knew I would follow it each day/week.

Have a look at some training programs and think about maybe a goal you would like to set for yourself. http://www.halhigdon.com/training/

Hal does the very basics and the bare minimum but the one thing I would recommend is to follow a calendar so you know exactly what you have to do each day. No Cheating!

Xavier definitely has some good advice...Hal has some solid training plans. Also, look into "Couch to 5K":

Never done it but this is very popular.
