Thanks guys, here are my splits:

Little frustrated because I paced perfectly for a sub 4:00 until the 30K mark. Hung in there though. No matter how hard 26.2 is, it is always worth it crossing that finish line!

I can't imagine what it feels like to run for over 4hrs without a break. I went a little over an hour before this summer and I was ready to collapse on the ground by the time I finished.

Does anybody else find it awkward running on a treadmill?

I plan on taking advantage of the cooler temperatures to run outside on the weekends before the Snow kicks in this Winter.

Before this year is over, I want to run 12K. My personal best is 11.2K.

I despise running on a treadmill. I only do it if it's absolutely necessary. I always feel like I'm going to fall off of the thing. I swear they are not made for people taller than 6-feet; the track just seems so narrow.

I invested in some good winter gear two years ago and get most of my runs in outside, unless there's a bunch of snow on the ground. It's actually not as bad as you'd think running in 20- or 30-degree weather.

I can't stand the treadmill. I ran a total of 1 mile on the treadmill this training cycle (3 months and 600+ miles). Only reason was because on that day it was raining and I went inside to finish the run. I usually run in rain, but that day it was pitch black and lightning.

Anyways, here is a tip that I think might be helpful: RUN SLOWER. You are not going to be able to run 8 minute miles overnight. 2 years ago I could only run a couple of miles at a 10 minute pace. I would focus on time and expanding that in small increments. Maybe have a long run of 45 minutes one week and 50 the next etc.

Running requires a lot of time and dedication to start churning down those numbers. Trust me though, the work will be worth it. 2 years ago I could only do those couple of miles at a slow pace and I pulled out a 1:39 half-marathon last spring (7:37 pace). I am going to quote Oprah, because she said it best:

"Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it."

EDIT: DJ is right, running in the winter is manageable. The only time I don't run outside is when they don't clear the sidewalks. You would be surprised how fast you warm up. I live in Chicago and I get away with wearing a thin spring Nike jacket, ear warmers and globes.

About 2 weeks ago, I almost feel off the treadmill at the gym. I closed my eyes for a couple of seconds and almost had an accident.

After doing a faceplant on cement last Winter, I'm not going to run outside even if there's only a mm of snow. I don't like running on the treadmill, so I'm probably going to get most of my cardio work by swimming.

Oh I'm already a slow runner. For example, I ran 6.62KM today and it took me 33m47s.

I'm battling through a nagging foot injury at the moment. Not sure if it's plantar fascitis or not; basically the outside of my right foot is very tender and causes me pain if I walk on it at any kind of slant or angle. There's no swelling or bruising in the area and the pain is only on the outside of the foot, nothing on the inside, front or back of the foot.

I sat out a week and after a few days it felt pretty good. Today was my first attempt at running and I made it 4 miles without any discomfort. The cooldown walk home, though, I felt some discomfort in the area but now several hours later, it appears to be gone.

                          Sounds like hell!

I am sore enough after doing one!

Just finished a 65 mile week, the most I've ever done. I'm going to max out at 68 for this session (doing most of it in Portugal so will be good to a) not have to work b) get some sun while I run. 4 weeks until race day.

Good luck man, I was supposed to be back around 25 miles this week. However, I have developed a knee issue after the marathon. The first week was fine, but I tweaked something in the beginning of my second week of recovery.

I had my best run yesterday, but today I couldn't even run around the block. My knee hurts when I bend it, but not when I physically touch the knee. Warm water seems to relieve the pain and make it feel normal.

I think I am going to take an entire 7 days off from running and going on the spin bike...so annoying.

Sorry to hear that dude. A long time ago someone gave me some sound advice regarding running and that was "at some point all runners become swimmers."

Best bet is to heal up now though and not make life worse. Good luck on the road to recovery.
