Here's a question I've heard mixed responses in regards (if it's been discussed in this thread, I apologize): Is there a drastic difference between being in "basketball shape" versus "5K and beyond" shape? There are many times where I feel like I'm in excellent basketball shape. And yet, distance running past 3 miles feels virtually impossible. Maybe I'm answering my own question. I just feel like I've known folks who could run distance laps around me that I'd then turn and outrun on the hardwood.
I suppose I'll throw out a connected question as well: it'd make sense to me that sprints and other quick running drills would be most suitable for basketball training. However, would jogging distances also aid? Or is that all in my head? I've heard some claim that long distance running could possibly harm my basketball shape, but I've never put much stock into such a claim.
