I did my first marathon 6 years ago and ran a 3:35. So it is slow progress but I love it and couldn't imagine training for anything else. Keep with it and stay healthy!

That is a ton of mileage, good job.Originally posted by raidersbball20Just ran the Great River Ragnar Relay on Friday and Saturday. I ran on an ultra team with 5 other people and our mileage total was 198.5. I ran 32.6 miles over 6 runs in about 27 hours with an average pace of 7:15 per mile! It was an amazing time and anyone big into running should definitely check out and maybe try a Ragnar they are all over the country!
I'm on taper week and absolutely miserable. Last week at the cottage and I am dieting and running very little while everyone else is eating hearty, running, swimming, and drinking their faces off. I'm going into a candy/alcohol coma post race.Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
Damn you guys are amazing runners!
I am trying to get back into 5k shape and get registered here within a couple months for the cooler weather. 5k is the max distance I want to run as I play sports and really have no desire/need to run long distances.
My goal is to get to break 20 minutes in a 5k. I'm 6-3 225 so I want to be in the Clydesdale group if possible! I can't compete against the guys who look like runners!SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

This week I have 45 miles total with a half-marathon on Sunday. Not looking to PR, just looking to keep around my training pace.Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
Put in 15 miles last week, which was refreshing as that was the first week I've been able to run three days in a long time. My pace was around 9 minutes, which is fine with me. I'd like to get closer to 8 minutes, but to do that, I'd likely need to ...
change my stride. Like my dad, I'm a bit of a shuffler, so I sacrifice speed as I don't have a long stride or long follow-through. I'm 6-2, so you'd think my stride would be longer, but when I've tried in the past, it didn't feel natural or comfortable.
Any tips?Currently Playing:

Re: OS Running Thread
I ran this past Saturday for the first time in about 6 weeks. I ran 6K and wanted to pass out on the ground right after, lol. I'm glad the weather is starting to cool off because I prefer to run outside. I feel so awkward running on the treadmill at the gym.Comment

Re: OS Running Thread
That is crazy. As stated, I'm 6-3. My stride is freaking huge and really helps with speed. Once I'm able to stride out and get in the flow it feels great.Put in 15 miles last week, which was refreshing as that was the first week I've been able to run three days in a long time. Re: OS Running Thread
Changing your stride may not totally be necessary. I have heard many times that a quick stride can be beneficial and be especially good for staying healthy plus you want to do what feels most natural. I've read studies about runners working on Chi Running techniques and the like for very little change in their overall conditioning. Biggest thing with running is the more miles you put in the better your output will be, just don't overdue it right away. :wink:Put in 15 miles last week, which was refreshing as that was the first week I've been able to run three days in a long time.
