Red light cams would likely be specifically exempted from the privacy law.

As for the other two, it's widely held you don't have a reasonable expectation of privacy when out in public. Only a few states have such stringent, stupid laws.

Personally I didn't see one thing wrong on the police officers part. Still think it's stupid to be jailed for 16 years for the video.

I think the cop acted properly, and that there's nothing wrong with posting this. I don't think anyone was in the wrong here. Cop doesn't know what that guy's doing...doesn't the undercover cop car have a light though?

Guys backs, up, cop wonders if he's gonna flee. Draws his weapon. He didn't wave it around

He clarified my clarification after I posted. I'm not arguing anything, I was explaining MassNole's agenda that led to his post.

It sucks, but that's how a lot of laws end up changed...Obviously I'd hope the legislature enacts some law changing this, but otherwise I'd want to see stuff escalated to the Supreme Court level (or whatever it is within the state).

Hopefully they'd let the guy stay out until appeals are over, since it's non-violent...

So, you think it is okay for an off-duty (or undercover, don't know which) officer, without identifying himself, to pull up beside a driver, pull out his firearm, and point it in said driver's face?

There are so many things wrong with that. First, the cop never identified himself. For all the guy knew, the cop could have been some crazy *** middle-aged guy pointing a gun in his face. Luckily the guy on the bike didn't have a gun, or else the situation could have gotten a lot uglier.

Secondly, how can you possibly find it acceptable for an officer to pull a gun on an individual who hasn't shown any signs of being a threat?

#1 - There was a patrol car behind the motorcycle. Watch the vid again.
#2 - He did not point it in the driver's face.
#3 - The cop did identify himself if you listen to a video with audio.
#4 - You are failing to look at it from both sides.

First ....from the looks of the way he turns around on the off ramp....the unmarked vehicle has a dash light and probably a siren(that's why he looks back...he hears the hi-lo I'm guessing)...so he knew he was a P.O.
Second...at NO time did he point his weapon at the guy....he unholstered it....turned away from the perp at all times(what maybe 6 seconds) and reholsters immediately.
The outrage and ridiculous headlines and calls of "out of control cop" is way over the top.
Heck....the idiot motorcyclists driving is more out of control and a bigger danger than the P.O.

                        You guys CRACK me up.

Oh the humanity of it all...that P.O. crazy

First off, the gun was never pointed at the guy, let's get that out of the way.

The guy knew he was a cop, otherwise he wouldn't have slowed down and kept looking back at him. I find it very questionable that we aren't given audio until the end. The cop didn't draw his weapon until the guy on the bike started to move away.

A lot of people are focusing on the cop, but the question at hand is, will/should the guy GO TO JAIL for simply taping the incident...

I still don't see how people can defend him for drawing his gun, even if it isn't pointed directly at his face. The cop cuts him off, at that point the motorcycle guy has no idea he is a cop, how would he? It takes the cop 6 seconds to identify who he is after he gets out of the car. Common sense tells the motorcycle guy to back up when a random car has come just a few feet in front of you.
