In Post-Apocalyptic Earth Would you Survive?

Using the movie "The Road" as my inspiration to this thread, do you feel you could survive as they did? In a post-apocalyptic world, where much of the human race has turned to cannabalism.

I find this genre of movies to be quite intriguing....the zombie apocalypse movies (28 Days, I Am Legend). The only basis for assuming my survival would be my Marine Corps training, and skills my grandfather taught me about hunting, fishing, farming, etc.

If you think about our society it would seem most cannot function w/o a cellphone, or without entertainment...

If pressed into survival mode would you sink or swim?

So long as it's air conditioned! LOL..j/k. I kind of doubt i'd survive but maybe. I've been working out for a long time now and I know my way around a hand gun. I'm also pretty intelligent and good at problem solving. On the downside I'm somewhat spoiled by luxuries as most Americans are. Really I think I probably would do better than most, so long as I didn't have to do much hand to hand combat, I'm not much of a fighter.

I'd like to think I have the logic and problem solving skills. On the other hand, not sure if I would be physically overcome the event, but it depends on what the event is. If I could find some brawn during a zombie apocalypse, I think we could do ok.

I'd do great except for my vision.

I wear contacts now with a spare pair of out of date glasses. At best I have a few months under those kind of conditions before I'm in big trouble visually.

Something tells me when the Apocalypse happens, you will only survive the initial disaster by blind luck. For those that do survive, stock up on Guns, Ammo, and Water... That will be the only currency.

If I didn't die in the event, I'd die after I lost my glasses or contacts as I'd be virtually blind without them...

I have a 6.00 and 6.75 contacts prescription in my right and left eye, respectively, so I'd have a hard time getting by with that bad of vision.

Yes.....because as everyone knows...anyone napping during an apocalyptic event lives(and wakes up to the utter devastation) ....and I'm just a few hours away from getting my professional nappers license.

I would say if you had millions of dollars and built yourself a undergroud type shelter with plenty of food and water to last you for a few good years until the air was cleared outside. Then yes. But honestly no telling who can survive something like that. I would say I couldn't or not for long.

I'm a vegetarian, so I wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of long term survival.
