Marcellus Shale? That's received a lot of news attention around here recently as residents are protesting a company's bid to drill on city property and on property owned by a suburban school district. At the moment it looks like city council is strongly opposed to the drilling. Particularly I think it's the hydraulic fracturing process that is the center of debate since that is apparently the process that messes up the ground water.

Yea, I live right on the northern Boarder of the Marcellus Shale. The Hydrofracking itself basically causes mini earthquakes which loosens up the rock and allows the natural Gas to move freely into where they drilled. Problem lies is that the cracks in the rocks can go all the way up into the aquifer thus polluting the water with all sorts of Nasty chemicals and gas. My Uncle just retired and wanted to sell his house and he figured this would be a quick way to make some extra money before he bolted south. Good luck selling your house when your water does this:

good movie to watch on this Subject is Gasland. It can be a little preachy but you gotta listen to the interviews he has with people all over the nation. Im just glad my County out a moratorium on fracking near our watershed.

Ugghhh...have to book my son's birthday party soon. He has 10-11 kids in his elementary class, plus at least four others he wants to invite. Sad that we now are expected to drop $150-200 on a birthday party annually.

Then I have to start hunting for some Gryffindor robes and a scarf. He's grown out his hair shaggy and discovered it's strawberry-blonde and wants to go as Ron Weasley for Halloween as we just finished reading the Harry Potter series.

Still, it'll be fun. He does understand that with the party expense he loses out on gifts, as we'll only buy him a single Harry Potter Lego set and take him out for dinner. The rest is all up in the air (I'll request AGAIN for others to not bring gifts but that failed last year, unfortunately).

Man, one of my friend's brother died today from leukemia. All I could think about when I was trying to think of something to help console them was how none of my friends at school said a damn thing to help me when my brother died. I managed to say someting, but I still find it hard to console others when someone in their family dies because I never got that from any of them.

All I could think about when I was trying to think of something to help console them was how none of my friends at school said a damn thing to help me when my brother died. I managed to say someting, but I still find it hard to console others when someone in their family dies because I never got that from any of them.

Very sad. My condolences go out to you, your friend and his family.

Thoroughly agree. There are some pretty ugly huskies I have to say.

Now the task is to find a house that actually has a backyard so he can roam free.

Yeah no doubt, my pup is going to be 6 this October. And she is still a runner. Every morning when I let her out she goes throughout the backyard on her own trail, the same exact. It's fun to watch her. And she loves to run the backyard like its nothing. Not to mention I'll come home and she'll be laying on the couch like she's one of us.
Had her since she was about 6 months old, and I've grown to love my husky. I don't know what I'd do without her.
