There is great terror though in this dream. For some reason, the light will not turn on. What is very freaky is my parents replaced the bulbs with the newer ones that save energy. I was up there visiting this Summer and I switched the light and for a second freaked out because those lights take a little to turn on.

The third dream I have is one where I can leap to tremendous heights and float for some time. I absolutely love this dream. I feel myself leaping and floating from one spot to the next, through neighborhoods etc. I love that dream and just talking about it makes me hope it happens again soon.
I've had the same "lights not turning on" dream as well. Sometimes they wouldn't turn on at all, sometimes they would be very dim or not shine any light so only the bulbs were light, and sometimes the switch turned on the wrong lights. I've also had the floating dream too except in mine I am only a few inches above the ground. It's like I take a step and my stride just becomes ridiculously long so I am floating for a while until my foot lands back on the ground.

      Re: Lucid or Precognitive Dreams

I remember one dream I had that freaked me out as a kid and still creeps me out today. I woke up in my bed and looked over at the bathroom door and my dad was in there getting ready for work, I blink and the next thing I see are snakes everywhere. On the roof, my bed, floors and walls. I scream and nothing happens. I realize I am dreaming and try to wake myself up. Well I think I wake up but however its the same exact dream again. Same order except each time I figure out its a dream quicker. It happens about 2 more times after that as well, I keep waking up in a dream. I finally wake up and see my dad in the bathroom again and think Im still in the dream and start screaming again but this time my dad runs out of the bathroom and calms me down. One of the scariest moments of my life.

I keep telling myself I'll get around to keeping a dream log in attempting to start lucid dreaming, never get around to it.

Dreams are such a thought-provoking phenomenon.
I have had dreams like that before, when you have a dream about your teeth falling out or shattering(shudder), it basically means you are unsure about some aspect of yourself.

I usually don't dream. Or if I do I wake up remembering zero of what was in my dream.

                  Re: Lucid or Precognitive Dreams

Lucid dreams can be scary as hell when you are "awake" but still dreaming and have sleep paralysis. I hate those. I do wish I could have more lucid dreams where I realize it and have clear thought. I swear I had a LD one time where I could hear a bunch of people chatting on a bus and even felt someone "tuck me in", but I woke up to an empty house. Freaky.

Their are all kinds of theories about blinking red lights and different things bringing these dreams on more frequently.

I'm extremely interested in the phenomenon.

A former roommate of mine would get these and have night terrors where he would just start screaming in his sleep. It probably sucked for him, but it was hilarious for the rest of us.

I'm pretty sure everyone dreams, it's just that people like you and I don't remember anything about them, for better or for worse.

Yeah, I think it's the longer you remain asleep aftre exiting REM sleep the less likely you are to remember the dream.

                            Re: Lucid or Precognitive Dreams

                            Dream from last night.

Work was getting robbed by some guy with a knife. Some how I ran to our other office and the place was being set on fire by another thief. So I grab my truck keys and run through the fire out the front door heading for my truck. But my truck is not there. I then turn around and the roof has all these trap door like flaps with people screaming in pain in each of these windows. I say about 40 or 50 slots with peoples faces.

Then I woke up for work.

Bit strange but I think I know the reason for the dream. I work for a medical supply company but the office I work for has been in business for 30+ years. It was originally a good part of town, but now it is very "hood". The homeless shelter is about 300 yards behind our office and the free food cafeteria is a block down our road. So I think it might have to do with the fear of being robbed in this place. Considering it has happened 3 times in the 4 years I been here.

                              Re: Lucid or Precognitive Dreams

I have Lucid & Precognitive dreams almost weekly. Precognitive dreams are very interesting, and I've freaked my friends out by some situations before because of them.

I was sitting in the locker room after a basketball game, and instantly realized what was going on, turned to my friend beside me, told him who was getting ready to come through the door, and word for word the conversation that was going to be taking place. He laughed... no more than 10 seconds later, the two come in the locker room, and word for word having the same conversation. He freaked.

We were later driving down the road, told him that the next 5 songs on the radio, and then we would see a bad car wreck. The next 5 songs came on the radio, just like I said, and then we were just getting ready to merge off of the interstate when a car came barreling through the median, overturning. That was a crazy feeling.

That stuff happens all of the time.

Lucid ones are ok, but precognitive dreams are awesome.

Wow, that is really crazy. And it makes you think too. Perhaps our brains really do have the latent capacity for the various forms of extra-sensory perception but for most people they can only be accessed in a subconscous (i.e. dream) state. Kind of makes you want to not be so quck to dismiss psychics.
