Wow even when I worked at Walmart many years ago we couldn't accept cards that wasn't signed, it was in our training from day 1. If you didn't check the signature on the back of the card you were fired.
And that policy at the post office been there for a very long time, at least in Chicago it has been for the past 20 years. I remember as a kid everytime we went to the post office the clerk looked for the signature.
Some towns and cities are just more laxed then others. I mean hell even out here if your order Dominos Pizza online, the driver will ask for your credit card and verify the signature with your ID signature and thats with PIZZA. Even has it written on their website when you check out.
Plus I am like 55, I always got to have at least $100 or $200 in cash on me at all times. Mainly because I travel a lot and not every gas station has a credit card or debit card reader. Then sometimes those readers break down too, so therefore cash always comes in handy.
Perfect example this spring, driving from Chicago to Vermont, me and the wife came across 4 Rest stops that either didn't have a debit card reader or the machine was broken. But being we had cash, we were able to get gas and keep on going.
But you had a good 30 cars that didn't have cash on them so their dumb arses were stuck there for a couple of days waiting for the guy to come out and fix their machine.
Also the DMV out here in my town and most towns in this state take CASH ONLY. They don't have a credit card or debit card reader.
