Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Been a weird week. I was down to 205 from 210 the first week. Second week, I only dropped a pound, but was definitely feeling better/more fit. I did that weigh in Friday morning.
Well, this weekend was our anniversary. We celebrated by going out to dinner at the Olive Garden. I had the mixed grill, which comes out to about 1000 calories with breadsticks, and 2 tall Blue Moon's. Then we went out for drinks, and I had like 4 Jack and Coke's, then finished up the night with some wine. I figured I may have gained weight if anything.
Well, this morning, I weighed myself, and I was down 3 pounds from the 204 I weighed on Friday. Go figure! I'm not complaining.
I also noticed that my weight fluctuates like crazy throughout the course of just one day.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Yeah, it's been a weird few weeks since the Super Bowl party for me. We hosted the party which meant we had a ton of leftovers at the house (hot sausage, buffalo chicken dip, stuffed peppers, kielbasa etc...). Basically nothing healthy. Considering I ate that for dinner for about a week, I was expecting to gain some weight. I actually kept on with my current rate (losing 2-3lbs per week).
What's funny is I tend to do this nearly every year before I go on vacation. I workout and drop down to the weight I should be at, but when I get back from vacation, I stop working out and put the weight back on. I'm going to have to stop that this year. I'm not a big guy (5'9), but had gotten up to 195lbs at one point. I'm down to 180lbs now. I want to get to 165lbs as that seems like a good weight for my height.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I was 255 1 month ago.
As of now I am 221.
The Atkins diet and stopped drinking beer.
I have 5 small meals a day, roughly about 1,500 calories per day.
I have teken weight off before like this, but put it back on. I am going to do it right this time. SLOWLY increase carbs and calories.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
What do you guys think about resistance bands instead of free weights? I've been using them for two days now, and while I feel it during the workout I just have to question how effective they are...
I've read articles that say using these bands is a legit way to work out... I want to lift but don't have the equipment for it right now, so I bought the bands instead.
Anyone have any experience with this?Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Awesome job man.
I'm down a total of 9 pounds since Feb. 4th. Still chugging along. I've had some lapses in my diet, but overall, i'm almost always below the 2300 calorie limit I have set for myself, and it's working. Throw in kettlebell workouts 3 times a week, and I feel great.
I just started a kettlebell program that is comprised completely of kettlebell snatches. For anyone that doesn't know what they are:
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6MGUllzX_0g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
They brutalize almost every muscle in your body. I can hardly walk right now, and my upper body is crazy sore, in a good way. And this is after hitting the kettlebells pretty hard for the last few weeks. Can't wait to see what type of fat burning I can get with this snatch only program.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
That looks like one of those workouts that doesn't look that difficult when you see someone else do it but is brutal when you try it yourself.
My WL is going great, I've lost my xmas weight and i'm really starting to notice some good changes like the abs starting pop, some vascularity (veins) starting to show etc. I also went to my in laws on the weekend and i had heaps of people who hadn't see me in a while say that i was looking great and my sister in law actually said "I think you need to go eat a cream bun or something". She was joking of course but it was still nice to get some complements.Comment

I am thinking about picking up some Bodylastics bands to work with as well.Last edited by Kearnzo; 02-22-2011, 10:32 PM.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Speaking of Bodylastics...
If I pick up the bands, and assuming that you can use the bands to hit basically any exercise you can with dumbbells, how exactly would I go about setting up a workout plan for my whole body? I've never been good at balancing what muscles I need to do on which days for proper rest, and just how much to do per day.
I'd be looking at 3-4 days a week to hit all muscle groups. If someone could lend a hand, i'd more than appreciate it. The kettlebells are doing there job so far of cutting down on fat, and when I get to where I want to be in terms of weight, I want to start working on toning and building some muscle.Comment

This looks like a decent 3/4 day a week program plus it has pics of all the different exercises etc: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/wotw10.htmComment

I gotta get back on track this week. I lost 3 pounds during the week, but it was all thanks to the flu, which i'm thankfully over now. I know I lost some progress working out, so i'll have to really hit the kettlebells hard tomorrow.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Ugh.
Not looking forward to my Monday afternoon weigh-in today. I still haven't drank any alcohol or soft drinks, but I did start drinking black coffee this week again. Plus, I must admit that I did have two peanut butter cookies on Friday that I already regret. I guess we'll see how I did in about 4 hours or so...Last edited by 55; 02-28-2011, 11:53 AM.Comment
