Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Workout routine looks limited to say the least. You could throw rows and a bunch of variations of squats/deadlifts/lunges in for variation using the same weights.
I think you could get to your goal in less then 90 days with just the diet which looks good.Comment

Lost a grand total of one pound over the past week... talk about kissing your sister
Better than nothing but I wanted more. But much better than those dreaded weeks when the number goes UP from the time before! Time to keep plugging along...Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I'm not a big meat eater, as I usually only eat beef and chicken, but I feel like I could do without both. I do love beef though, particularly hamburger, but I feel like I could easily do without it.
What health benefits have you noticed? I've thought about this before and that's why I ask.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Well, not much progress has been made this summer, to say the least.
I've gotten up to about 264, after getting down to 247 or so in April. I am now back down to the low 250's range, which is really a decent place for me to be (I'm 6'5") considering all I've done is clean my eating up a bit.
Eventually I'll get going on P90x, but man, it's been an extremely busy summer and it seems like we're traveling three weekends out of the month. That makes it tough.
My ultimate goal is 230-235, but I am going to have to achieve that with some body redistribution, as I'll be way too lean at that weight if I don't add some lean muscle mass.Comment

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Ok I am trying to lose weight and have been playing Basketball and Tennis everyday for the past couple. (Love Tennis, lol) Well I also wanted to start eating beter but dont know where to even start....
I have been told not to eat bread and Pasta which is really hard for me considering Pasta is my favorite food. I also drink a lot of D milk which I have been told doesnt help either. I have however starting drinking Lipton Citrus Green Tea and eating Low Fat Crackers with Hummus (Heard it was good for you) but dont know really anything else to get, lol.
Also trying to cut out soda.
So please my fellow Osers suggest some meal and snack ideas and tips on how to eat better.

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
I guess I just got into the right (or wrong, depending on your point of view) literature and decided just to try it for 30 days to see if I could do it. Well, after two weeks of not eating meat, I noticed that I just felt better all-around. I had more energy and just seemed to be in a better mood altogether. By the end of the month, just the smell of meat cooking made me want to be sick, since my body was completely flushed of all the toxins and I just decided to never eat it again.Comment

All I've done is kept things simple for me, not really thinking about what to eat, but watching how much I eat and counting calories. Counting calories I find the most helpful because, in the simplest terms, to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you're consuming. I also keep an eye on sodium #s and calories from fat.
With that said, I've pretty much stopped eating fast-food altogether. The last time I had a fast food meal was early Spring. It is amazing how big of a change you feel once you get all of that excess grease out of your system. I pack my lunch everyday, which is most of the time the following: bottle of water, a wrap of some kind, an apple, a tangerine or clementine, and some baby carrots. Some days I'll switch out the wrap for a Healthy Choice steamers meal (which is suprisingly filling, though relatively high on sodium) or a little rice concotion I make sometimes.
Dinner I usually eat whatever, but watch my serving sizes and try to balance out the veggies, carbs, and protein whenever possible.
As far as 'snacking' goes, instead of a bowl of ice-cream I'll go for a fudge popsicle (40 cals) once or twice a week. Almonds and peanuts are good, too. I used to go through milk like crazy, but have cut down significantly and drink more water and tea at home.
Now I'm 195 and still losing (though not as quickly as before).

Re: OS Weight Loss 2011
Finiding this thread on here and reading the first couple of pages might be just what I need to get my butt back on the right track.
A few months ago, I was really down on myself and rightfully so. At 320lbs, I weighed more than I ever had before. I have always been a bigger guy but I guess I didn't realize how out of hand it had gotten. I know some of you said that it your weight is deceptive and that's very much how mine is. When I told my GF how much I weighed in at, she was shocked.
I started going to the gym and eating much better than I was before. I was feeling as good as I had since high school (I'm 24 now). This went on for about a month and I had taken off about 15lbs or so. Then, I reinjured my bad ankle and wasn't able to do much in the way of working out for maybe 6 weeks or so and put on 10/15lbs that I had lost.
As a big guy, I really hate summer. I try to mask my weight with layering clothing but that's no fun in the heat. No to mention that I hate going swimming or anything like that cause I feel like a fat piece of crap. You know, normal big guy issues.
Anyways, my ankle is much better now and work is starting to get back into a normal routine (I work at an elementary school) so I'm hoping to get back into the routine I was in a couple months back.
What are some of the things you bigger guys found that worked the best for you? Things you eat, excercise, anything. What did you all do that really started producing results? It's nice to get info from guys who were in a similar situation as I am. Gives me a little bit more hope and motivation.PSN - RedSea_RouchComment

I ate Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers for meals as much as I could (excluding Tuesday lunch and Wednesday dinner, which I had standing engagements with friends), and drank water exclusively (no snacking!). Then I made it a point to work out 30 minutes or burn 100 calories (the burn goal started when I got YourShape and I burn 100+ calories in one session).
As a guy that moved down from 260 to 240, that's mainly what I did. I'm sure now that I'm a lot lower down, I'm going to have to work harder, but I can do that.
One of the important things is that we're here for help. We (or at least I) want to see everyone succeed. There'll be off days, but the best thing to do is not resign, but forge onward. Keep chipping at it, and you'll be shocked that you'll have to buy new jeans.
You can do it.
(Now I have to stop being a hypocrite and get off my *** and do it too.)
