Brutal hand last night. Playing a $1/$2 NLHE cash game. I had about $130 going into the hand, the guy who I hate now had over $200 I wanna say.
Anyway, I get pocket 4's and was in late position. I had 2 calls in front of me, then the last guy raised to $5. I call, as do the other 2 guys. Flop comes 7-6-3, 2 clubs and a spade. Guy first to act bets $2, the other two call as well. I was doubting anyone caught anything, so I called. Turn comes, 5 of spades. I hit a straight, still no flush out there. First to act bets $2, guy after calls. Next guy raises to $6. I re-raise to $18. Person after me folds, next guy raises to $50. Now I'm really concerned. There's only 2 possible hands that can beat me (4-8 or 8-9), but the way my luck was going, I had a gut feeling this guy had 8-9. All the guys were giving me a hard time and telling me to call because I was taking awhile to decide. My first inclination was to fold, but I got talked into shoving, which was calling the $50 and raising $46 on top. Naturally the guy insta-calls and flips over 8-9. For good measure, the river was a 10. I felt so sick.
I feel like I donked off big time, and I feel like I've been tricking myself into thinking I was a good player all these years when in reality, I'm terrible.
