        Re: ATTN: OS Poker Players

I was on the losing end of a $2785 pot tonight, so I hope the rest of you feel better.

I was playing $2/$4 NL Rush Poker on FTP.

I built my stack up to a little more than $1300 and only planned on playing for 10 more minutes.

I am in the cutoff with 10s9s and it is folded around to me so I raise to $12 just trying to steal.

The button folds. Small blind calls. Big blind calls.

        The flop comes:

        6h-7d-8c

        The small blind bets $30.

        The big blind calls.

        I raise to $90.

The small blind re-raises to $225.

        The big blind folds.

I move all-in for the rest of my stack which was about $1200.

The small blind insta-calls me and has me covered.

He shows 8h-8d for top set and I of course have the nut straight.

The turn is the 7h and I just about puked.

That's cold atleast he wasn't pushing a gutshot and stacking off with 10-J.

I was really hoping he had 4-5 suited (kind of how he played the hand) and was drawing dead, but when he insta-called when I jammed I knew he was going to show me a set.

I'm seriously considering getting hold'em manager and buying hand history's at PTR...then just playing HU games.

Seems by far the fastest way to
              build a big bankroll.

                Re: ATTN: OS Poker Players

I've built my bankroll from $20 to $300 in less than a year, only playing SnGs; low limit to micro as well. I don't multi often, and I allow myself one 1,000+ entries MTT a month.

For everytime I hit $100 more than the previous br, I move up stakes.

I guess I feel better so I don't have to lose my money all at once - 55, losing $2000 makes me want to cry for you man - good lawd, thats' why I wont' risk cash games because I would literally puke.

                    Re: ATTN: OS Poker Players

Dropped down to a $0.55 45-man sit and go...finished 7th, but really should've finished higher. I was 2nd in chips going into the final table, but the blinds cancelled out any momentum I had. I had around $8,500 in chips, but the blinds were (IIRC) 500/1000 with a 50 ante. A few people doubled up and I went from being in solid shape to one of the short stacks.

                      7th out of How many?

8500/ 1050 in chips is only - 8.09 big blinds left. Always make sure to keep your BB amount more than 20 to be comfortable. Seems you didn't steal the blinds enough. Have to switch from Lag (Loose and Aggressive) to Tag (Tight n Aggressive) often; and never being passive (calling on the button, calling too much, no continuation bets if you raise; etc).

If you need more help/guidance let me know. I'm not great, but I learned from my cousin who made his living the last 3 years solely off poker; living in Europe. He's helped me get into the money more than enough times with some popular formulas like the BBx and some other methods. If you're a great player already, then pardon my assumptions - I just love talking and reading about the game.

Yeah the book "Kill Everyone" have your push call range broken down to your ICM/M number.

It was a 45 man. The thing with the chips/blinds is that I was 2nd or 3rd in chips, but the levels increased so fast that by the time the final table came around being 2nd or 3rd didn't mean nearly as much. The chip leader was around 20k, but everyone else was in the 3-8k range.

I could use all the help I can get ...I think I'm a pretty good tournament player, but my cash game skills are lacking.

Finished 3rd in an 8 man $20 sit and go last night with my uncle and some other people. It was hard to screw up with the cards I was getting. First hand of the night, KK, won a huge pot. Got AA once, JJ twice, and caught some good flops.

The hand I busted on I had AQ...flop came 8 Q 10. I push with top pair, guy (had me covered by a good margin) calls, flips over J8...no flush possibilities but he had a straight draw. Turn is another 10, river is an 8, giving him a boat. Tough way to go out, but I broke even so whatever.

Anyone have any advice for finding/playing low limit poker in Vegas? I am going to a conference there on Wed, and when I went last year I was too intimidated/busy to play live poker there. I don't mind live poker as there is a hard rock 20 min from my house that I enjoy but I felt that Vegas was too "scary" and expensive to play in. Plus unlike roulette, blackjack, and slots, all the real poker rooms seem secluded and exclusive. Anyone have any experience or thoughts?

I had to share this...was playing a 6 man $20 NLHE sit and go and witnessed a sick hand.

I'm UTG in seat 3...look down, pocket Jacks.

                                I raise 4x BB
                                Seat 4 calls
                                Seat 5 calls
                                Seat 6 re-raises a pretty large amount
                                Seat 1 (SB) folds
                                Seat 2 (BB) re-raises all-in
I had a feeling I was beaten, plus with all these people raising there were sure to be overcards galore, so I fold
                                Seat 4 calls
                                Seat 5 folds
                                Seat 6 calls

                                Flop: A-3-A rainbow

                                Seat 4 checks
Seat 6 bets a large amount
                                Seat 4 calls

                                Turn: 7

                                Seat 4 checks
Seat 6 bets a larger amount
                                Seat 4 calls

                                River: Q

                                Seat 4 checks
                                Seat 6 bets all in
Seat 4 calls (Seat 6 had him covered, so Seat 4 was all in)

                                Seat 2 flips over 10-10
                                Seat 4 flips over K-K
Seat 5 shows his mucked cards of 9-9
Seat 6 shows Q-Q for a set, knocks out 2 guys.

So there were 9's, 10's, Jacks, Queens, and Kings all out on the same hand. I was so proud of myself that I made that fold
