Didn't realize having a car note was "living outside my means" though. Interesting.

I'll only buy new. There's peace of mind in knowing everything is under warranty, and there was no previous shenanigans from prior owners.

I get the anti debt stuff, but we don't buy or lease cars that are outside our means.

Looking at getting a new car lately, anyone have an Infiniti G35 or G35x (AWD) that lives in a region where it snows? Been hearing mixed things on the sedan and it being a real pain with snow, even with snow tires.

-- Apparently they did away with the G35 and its now a G series? Anyone experienced with this model in the snow?

I assume the G37 (formerly G35) got rolled into the Q50 when Infiniti decided to rename its whole lineup. Looking at their website and judging by price point I would assume the G Sedan listed there was originally the G25.

I've got two, but both are in car seats. I rode in the back of my buddies GTO from Picayune to Memphis a couple years back. It had plenty of leg room, even with three 6ft tall dudes in it. I loved those cars. But with them killing off Pontiac and the GTO being sort of an import/oddity to begin with it makes me leery. As a play toy, sure. But for my family's sake probably not.

So I'm thinking about buying my "first" car next spring (I say first meaning my first new car. I've been driving an 03 Sunfire for the last 3 years) Right now my early leader is the Hyundai Sonata. Anybody own one of these or driven one?

I own a regular Sonata and a Hybrid Sonata. Pretty spacious car that rides very smooth.

I'm going to get a OBDII scanner. Don't wanna spend more than $20 since it's not for professional use.

                      http://www.amazon.com/Excelvan-Diagn...226046&sr=1-10

Is there any real difference between any of them?

Not really any difference. Both will give you the code numbers but you will have to look up what it means. Anything that starts with a P is a general code, a U is manufacturer specifics ie Ford, Chrysler/Dodge, GM, etc.

In my experience the most common code thrown is faulty/loose fuel cap, O2 sensor problems, catalytic converter issues.

Almost every single damn time I use the OBDII scanner when I get a code, it's for an O2 sensor problem, LOL...

I have a 2005 Hyundai Sonata that I purchased in Feb of 2006. It's got close to 95,000 miles on it and outside of new tires, oil changes, and a tuneups I haven't spent a dime on it repair-wise. It had a 10 year warranty that covered some sensor replacements I had but it's been a great car. I have the V-6 one and it's still great on gas.

My drives a 2010 Hyundai Elantra that she's had for over a year now and it runs great too.

What am I doing wrong? I'm 0/2 on this thing fitting. Tried on an 08 Silverado and 99 Escort. It won't physically fit around because the plastic on the reader is too fat.

Well that's odd and without being there to see it, not sure.

Which one did you end up buying?
