Sadly, that would not be surprising. There just have not been many cases of a tornado of this magnitude taking direct aim at a large urban area.

Say a prayer for everyone down here guys. It's bad. Everywhere.

I haven't been able to get contact with my baby sister since early yesterday evening. I know she's ok from when I talked to her, but literally...everything around her house is gone. Literally gone. She's got no power, no cell phone service, nothing. Really want to get in contact with her.

I have friends from Pleasant Grove who have lost everything. Houses completely obliterated.

I have 3 friends who had their cars smashed and their homes severely damaged in Cahaba Heights off of Hwy 280.

The city of Cullman is in ruins. An entire hospital vanished.

Fultondale/Gardendale on the north side of Birmingham is severely damaged. My uncle's house was hit hard.

I was headed to Mullet Toss this weekend, but its looking like I'll be spending my weekend in Tuscaloosa trying to help my sister and her roommates get out of town.

Well, thank God everyone on here made it through safely.

The video is...insane. I've never, ever seen a tornado like that before. When you see/hear a tornado it usually doesn't move too quickly and sounds like a train coming.

That was visible and sounded like a jet taking off. I can only imagine what that tornado must have been like.

Prayers to everyone in Alabama/Georgia and anywhere else effected by this. It makes me sick with sadness to see these pictures...

Main St. before: (I told you guys it's a small town)

Almost the same shot of Main St. after:

This is where I worked for three years in my early twenties

You can't tell from the picture but, that was four story distribution center. Originally it was probably about 20 yards from that road that it now lies on. News is still really scarce but, rumors are that there are a lot of people still missing.

I've never seen anything like this in my life. This is the same powerful tornado from <layer>Tuscaloosa<layer></layer></layer><layer></layer> as it came through Birmingham. I was at the skate park on southside when I caught this... there were about 12 of us recording it and none of us were really expecting it to be that close. We went to check out the damage north of Birmingham later and it was just unbelievable. I tried to record footage of it but it was just too dark at that point... absolutely terrible, I feel the pain of all the families involved.

Here's another shot of my old workplace. It's hard to believe that's the same place that I worked at for three years.

Today's a rough day... All I'm doing is refreshing my FB to see if someone I know passed away. So far, there has only been one person. Who was one of my Mom's friends when I was growing up. Reports are saying that the death toll is at 27 now but, like I've been saying, who knows what's true and what's not right now because all of my info is from FB & Twitter.

I typed in Hackleburg in the search window on Twitter to see what random people where saying and this was one of the tweets:

                            Bama26point2 Michael
@AL_ATTORNEY have a friend found in a field 3 miles from his house in Hackleburg... can't find his wife... horrible
                            Horrible if true.
